If you put foot flat to the floor you still have acceleration but nothing like it should be. I've checked coil,leads,plugs,fuel and air filter. any ideas and help with problem wold help as we live in the middle of nowhere.

try disconnecting vacuum advance tube from the distributor,block it off and see how the car reacts.you may have to do it to both if it has 2 Could also have a vacuum leak somewhere around the intake system

Start the car in park when it is running go to reverse back up 10-15 ft then go to drive if it goes forward but won't shift out of 1st gear then it is a trans mision problem not a fuel delivery problem.

When you say it's destroying the air filter---do you mean it's all sooted up ?? I am assuming that what you mean.
Try disconnecting the vacuum line at the egr valve and see if that helps.
But it sounds more like a plugged up exhaust system.Try disconnecting or looosing the flange before the cataylic convertor and then see how it runs.

What engine code is stored in the computer? You may have a bad TPS (throttle postioning sensor), or a bad O2 sensor. Auto Zone can retrieve the code for you, and tell you what sensor it is related to.

Have you checked the primary gauze filter that is part of the fuel pump located in the fuel tank. You may have got a batch of dirty fuel that has clogged this filter which would cause fuel starvation when demand increases.
