SOURCE: Draining Battery on 1996 Ford Contour

A battery drain will not be caused by a bad fuse, its called by something draining power that you can not see. We call this a parasitic dran because just like a parasite drains your energy so does this. Its easy to test for if you have a test light. Loosen the negative battery cable and attach the aligator clip to the clamp next hold the post of the test light to the post of the battery and remove the battery cable being careful not to let it touch the test light. If you have any light thats your drain. On some fords you need to give the computers 30 minutes to power down after shutting the car off. if you want to isolate the system thats causing the drain pull and replace fuses one by one, when the light goes out you have your suspect.

with the aid of a test light disconnect the negative terminal to the battery and connect one end of the test light to the battery and the other end to the terminal cable if its lit there is a draw begin by pulling 1 fuse at a time until the light goes out and that's the draw most likely a glove-box switch not making full contact or a trunk switch even the dome light adjust the switch as necessary either try a shim or possibly bend the fixture forwards or remove the bulb all together if you desire

2006 S430 battery is drained over night.

You have to find out what drains your battery. One simple way to do it is disconnect negative battery cable, and connect your test light to the disconnected cable and to the battery post the cable was just connected to. If the test light lights up, something is draining your battery. Now start pulling your fuses one at the time from the fuse box, you could have more than one fuse box in your car, until you pull the fuse and your test light goes out. That gives you pretty good idea what is the culprit, so just fix it and be happy!

Why does my 20 amp fuse blow when the engine is running, but work without issue when the engine is off?

Why fuses blow or how to find short circuits or drains !

(the Park (tail-running) lamps go to up to 20+ places) ... The below covers shorts in the cab box, not the 50-100 amp engine bay fuse box that loves to rust out.

I have a 95 olds the battery continues to drain to zero. I have replaced the battery 3 timesi, I just got the alternator back with a new regulator, any ideas

Usual way to test is use amp gauge between battery + and battery cable, then pull fuses on at a time to see if the drain goes away. If you find a fuse that fixes the problem, check all circuits associated with that fuse. Check cigar lighter for being shorted/stuck in. check glove box light, trunk light, under hood light for not shuting off.

Battery always running down..the car has a draw on the battery even after turned off. New alternator and battery still drains over night.

Check for interior lights at hat are on, do it at night. Common issues are lights in the sun visors, trunk and hood are also common as is console and glove box lights.
