On 2004 pontiac montana what does fuse 7 control

Battery was running down in a couple of days so I took Positive cable from fuse box loose and checked for arc. found a arc so I started removing fuses with nr 8. Still arcing. I removed fuse 7 and arc disappeared. I put battery cable on and car started fine, lights and turn and stop worked. now I need to know what nr 7 a 60 amp fuse controls.

SOURCE: battary light on , engine cut off car won't crank

sounds like it's your alternator, your alternator charges your battery and runs car once it is started. if you have a bad alternator your battery light will come on, and shortly after your vehicle will die, unable to restart without a jump. I would take your battery to autozone or an auto shop to have your battery and alternator tested.

SOURCE: car cranks good but won't start

Hello... I applaud all the work you have done so far... A car basically needs ignition, fuel and compression to run. I will leave the compression for last.

But lets do some simple checks.. Even though parts are replaced, check to make sure you have a strong spark, use a spark tester. They are cheap.

Check all powers and grounds running from the ignition system This includes all wires and power cables from the fuse box.

It sounds like something is loss...

I would also have the computer scanned with a scanner to see if there are any codes stored.

Good Luck.... Post back with fix... Thanks

SOURCE: Alternator went out and killed the battery.

I cannot access the wiring diagram, but one of the wires from the alternator usually goes to the dash light. It may go through the computer or other circuitry on the way. If you can trace that wire, you may find the problem. Sorry I can't tell you more without the diagram.

2004 pontiac montana..had loose grd screw on batt..loosed support bar for fuse box and moved aside while tightening .now no inst working. radio is locked out..runs well..

Either pulled wire loose or blew fuse. At least you know area to look for loose wire. Find wiring diagram and the find color of wire for instruments that will narrow your search.

How to get the battery out

The battery in the 2003 Pontiac Montana is located in the engine compartment on the passenger's side just behind the headlight assembly. Changing the battery can be a little challenging because the Pontiac saw fit to bury it below several other parts in the van. The under-hood fuse box sits directly above the battery and a cross brace runs over the top of it as well. Dealing with both items is not complicated but does add time to the process. Remove the brace, there are 3 bolts, then slide the brace out thrugh the fuse box. Remove the bolt that holds the fuse box onto the frame and lift it over and out of the way. Remove the battery hold down bolt, and unhook the battery cables. lift out the battery through the wiring harnesses that remain.
