Pretty much have to remove the dash & console on the inside , should be about 6 nuts/bolts on the engine side of firewall, plus the hoses , if you’ve never attempted this before...., maybe you should get a repair manual specific to that vehicle & your questions will be answered

1986 ltd country squire heater blows fine but only mildly warm air comes out. there is a control sensor just below the inlet hose to the heater core. is this what controls water flow to the core and does...

that could be the water valve that is controlled by the hot/cold knob on teh heater control, Have someone turn the knob to cold and then hot and see if you can see the valve turn.

Feel the inlet and outlet heater core hoses. They should be about the same temp when the engine is warmed up.

I have a water leak on the passenger seat from my ford escort 1999 ac

One of two things have happened. Either the AC drain is clogged and condensation water is leaking into the passenger comparment or.... the notorious ford escort heater core is leaking. (I had an escort for 7 years and changed the heater core 2 times. Metal core with plastic end caps. Both of mine leaked at a corner of the end cap. Not a fun job to swap out a heater core either......

The one you capped could have been capped from the factory. The hose that goes thru the firewall goes to the heater controls and the one that is tee'd to it should go to a vac can. It will be a plastic ball or a metal soup can.

Leaking heater core

did u replace the heater hoses as well. When u run your ac an idle up valve raises your rpms slightly whitch will pump more coolant. Other than that they should have nothing to do with one another.

1986 Ford Thunderbird Heater Core leaking...

According to the book, 1 day. You'll have to schedule the event with your handy motor shop.

I'd like to do the repair myself on my own 1987, and according to the Haynes & Chilton's books, the repair requires removing the dash and evacuating the AC. I'm not willing to evacuate the AC, so for the last ten years I've been living without a heater. Lucky for me I'm in Florida!

Heater core 1990 Ford F-150

I believe this is the easiest heater core ever invented. If it is like the 1986 model. I believe it is. You take out the glove box door. The heater core is right there under a cover in the duct work.
