1996 jeep grand cherokee no automatic interior lights

1. If you have the light switch in the wrong mode the lights will not operate when you open the door.

2. If the interior lights do not operate at all (ie you cannot switch them on and off manually)then you need to check the fuse for the interior lights.

3. When set to the correct mode, the interior lights will operate from a door operated switch so if the switch has failed the lights will either stay on or not operate at all when you open and close the door. Eventually these door switches fail with repeated use and need to be replaced. (Consider how many times the small door switch has been operated since 1996).

I bought a 96 jeep cherokee sport & the interior lights only come on for the front passenger door. the three other doors & the hatch dont turn on the interior lights & i cant find any fuse box...

Can you turn on the lights with the Interior light switch?. If a light works, obviously the fuse is good. You will need a wiring diagram and a test light to figure out where to start.

The interior lights on my 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee started coming on while driving or while the car was parked about a week ago. Today, they must have come on during the night because battery was dead. ...

We had a similar problem with our 1996 Grand Cherokee. I don't know where it's located in the 2008 but there was a relay behind the glove box that was causing the problem with ours. I hope this helps.

Interior lights wont go out

First you can check your door adjar switches. Unplug one at a time to see if your dome light shuts off. If it shuts off replace switch that was unplugged. If this does not help your problem is the ignition switch. Thanks

2000 jeep cherokee interior lights wont turn off

I would check the door adjar switches. IF all the door adjar switches check okay, then check the head light switch .

Assuming the head light switch and door adjar switches are okay , Then there is a wiring problem. This is the worst case scenario .

yes your dimmer switch may have the option to turn on the interior lights so try that out. also check overhead console for the same option.

if none of that is the case find what door ajar switch does not look like the rest. and as you go door to door, when you open the door and locate the ajar switch, push them in maually which is a little black button mounted to the body. more then likely arount the striker plate for the door latch
