Shift cable maybe wore out. This will keep the shifter from lining up at the right time to lock it in to park with transmission.

SOURCE: power window on a 97 honda accord wont go up

possibly your power window regulator is out. basically check the fuses first to make sure you have not blown that, if it is good, then you can order a new window regulator from the dealer or online @ autopartswarehouse.com. to replace the window regulator you will need to will need to remove the door panel, start with the screws on the handle and the arm rest, covered with a plastic cap. the door panel which can be pryed from the bottom with a flat blade screw driver or flat pry bar, it will make a snapping sound. three bolts on the regulator 4 bolts on the window tracks and 2 bolts securing the window, re assemble as you have taken apart, Good Luck!!

SOURCE: Gear shift stuck in park -- 2002 Honda Accord SE

Take it to the dealer to fix it for a permanent solution, but there is a quick fix when in a bind...

There is a little key space on the left side of Park, take a screwdriver and open that and then take the screwdriver and touch the pad that is about an inch down in that hole, while touching it, you can put the car into any gear.

It is your celluloid that is sticky, which sometimes happens in hot/muggy weather. You may need that replaced.

Y does my 97 honda accord exsalorat when park

most engines idle in park at around 900 rpm this drops slightly when a gear is selected as the motor comes under load. The idle speed sensor should compensate for this the same as it should compensate for when the load is removed . Check for fault code in idle speed sensor area

D4 is slipping and not engaging. This means you need a transmission. you're losing a gear

Transmission issue

You need to have the transmission flushed and have new fluid put in. As oil warms up, especially old oil. It loses viscosity and will not lubricate the gears as it should.
