There is a safety cut off for the fuel pump. They call it an Inertia switch and it has a reset button on it. Usually this switch is either behind a front kick panel or in the trunk.

Look in your Web Browser for a topic like "1993 Festiva Inertia switch location" and for the part under "1993 Festiva Inertia switch".

Wiring diagrams are free at Autozone.com after registering your vehicle. But toggle to the bottom Help areas, chose the free categories as there are pay sites too.

It should be located left rear under the trunk lid.

88 - 89 festiva "L" models came with a 4 speed. Unless it has been swapped with a 5 speed from an 88 - 89 "LX" or a 90 - 93 festiva 4 gears is all you have. That is the way the festiva is designed. Heat only works on the defrost and the floor. Fresh and AC (if equipped) come through the vents.

it is under the rear seat....lift the carpet and you will see a door that you can unbolt and the pump is in there.

The fuel sending unit is part of the fuel pump .
