Tips to make it easier to replace cv joint and the torgue spec.

I found for myself that disconnecting the steering knuckle from the strut ,removing the tie rod and the lower ball joint also from the steering knuckle and remove it so that its out of the way. This makes it allot easier to remove the half shaft. Also be sure to hang the caliper with wire so you don't damage your break hoses. Most half shafts are 65 to 85 ft lbs but the exact torque can be gotten from your local auto parts store.

2003 SXT NEON, MY CAR SOUNDS LIKE A LITTLE AIRPLAIN. i'M A GOOD HANDS ON GUY. i THINK IT'S THE FRONT WEEL BEARINGS. ALL i NEED IS A SCHEMATIC. PLEASE HELP AND THANK YOU.

The bearings are pressed in on that model. All you need to do mechanically is remove the knuckle. You will then need to bring the knuckle to a shop to have the old bearing pressed out and the new bearing pressed in.

To remove the knuckle you will,
-Remove the axle nut
-Remove the outer tie rod from the knuckle
-Remove the brake caliper
-Remove the brake rotor
-Separate the lower ball joint from the knuckle
-Remove the two bolts that hold the knuckle to the strut.

It is very important to torque the axle nut to the proper spec after reassembly. Failure to do so will cause the bearing to fail quickly. 180 ft-lbs comes to mind but you may want to confirm that with another source.

How to cange front shocks.?

Raise and support the car safely and remove the front wheels. Undo the clip holding the brake line to the strut. Loosen the bolts holding the strut to the steering knuckle. Before removing them, remove the strut mount tower bolts under the hood. Then remove the other bolts, the entire strut assembly will slide out. You can either install a complete new strut and spring assembly (more expensive), or you can use a coil spring compressor to remove the spring from the old strut and install it on a new strut (less expensive but a lot more work, and you must have access to a spring compressor). Make sure when installing the spring that it is aligned correctly on the new strut. Also, you should replace the strut mounts with new ones. Be aware that a compressed spring is very dangerous, so be sure to follow the instructions for the spring compressor. Re-install the strut assembly. Make sure that the knuckle bolts and strut mount bolts are torqued to spec.
