SOURCE: 200 Chevy Suburban -- trouble starting
Bad fuel pressure regulator. Located on drivers side of engine on fuel rail. Cost of part is around $70. Easy to replace. Buy the part, look at it, find the old one on the engine in the area described above. Pull the vacuum line off of it, if you see any fuel in the vacuum line it's bad. The vacuum line sucks up the fuel flooding the engine. Classic symptoms. Make sure to relieve the fuel pressure prior to removing or let it sit for a couple of hours, or over night. The leak will relieve the pressure over time. Simple clip holds it on, easy to get at. Make sure to remove both "O" rings prior to putting new unit on. Should solve the problem.

SOURCE: Chevrolet Suburban 4 Wheel Drive Indicator Lights
Just serviced my own 4x4 Suburban, by buying a 2nd hand encoder motor and replaced the old one, which was trashed by the winter salt. The device is prone to failure since it's made of alluminium and water has an easy time of entering the unit and trashing it.
CAUTION: Abbreviated gratuitous information of how an encoder motor was serviced. If unqualified to deal with repair, seek professional service.
CAUTION: Read at one's own risk.
To replace it, you need to crawl under the vehicle and remove the front drive shaft;
Disconnect the electric harness to the encoder motor, followed by unbolting it.
Take replacement encoder motor and install. There may be an issue with aligning the cogged cam of the transfer case to the encoder motor. If so, the vehicle's 4 wheels will need to be raised off the ground. The engine started, transmission in Park, and using a Vice-Grip® wrench gently rotate cam clockwise approximately 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch, then while set in this position, stop engine. Now attempt to align and attach the encoder motor.
After successfully attaching new encoder motor, attach its wiring loom.
Test vehicle.

When you push teh 4hi button, yo shouldhear a click under the right side dash. That is the transer case shift module. Also check for any blown fuses. You should also hear the encoder motor activate when you push the 4wd button. The encoder motor is attached to the side of the transfer case and you. These tend to go bad from corrosion. You can test the encoder motor by disconnecting it from the electrical supply and use a jumper to apply 12 volts to the plug in on the motor. I found an easy way to apply voltage whenever I need t test something. I use a 12 volt battery charger. Straighten out two metal paper clips and clamp one in each of the alligator clips on the battery charger. turn the charger on to the lowest amp setting and us the paper clips as probes to activate whatever part you are testing. Works great, and you don't have to remove the part to test it. If the encoder motor won't work with the tester, it will have t be replaced. They are not cheap. Avoid the dealerships. They'll charge up to $800 for one. Check NAPA or auto zone. If the encoder motor checks out ok, then move on to the vacuum lines, especially the one under the battery tray. You will have to remove the battery and ray to get to it, but it is notorious for coming loose. Read your owners manual for warnings about disconnecting the battery, concerning stereos and alarm systems.
