Hope this helps,

I just installed a backup camera on our 2009 Taurus SE. video wire had a red and black wire attached to it. I grounded the black to the trunk lid itself. I ran the red wire at the camera to the backup light connector on the inside left taillight harness. I used a 12v to determine which was reverse without having to remove the taillight. I ran the video cable thru the pass thru and along the ceiling and into the dash to the radio. The JVC double din radio had a reverse wire and I soldered the other end of the red wire to that wire and it worked like a charm.

It could be your flasher module

If only life was that simple. Seriously you should check out a Haynes manual. The wiring colours change from year to year and even then you can't be absolutely sure.
Point in question - I had a number of issues with wire colours that didn't match with what they were supposed to be even in the manual. A little detective work later and I discovered that Ford had used the following years wiring looms in my car so I was looking at the wrong diagrams.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND that if you mess with any of the lighting on this vehicle it could cause the control module for the lighting system to malfunction and go out and this part the last time I replaced one was$970.00.

It may not be a fuse at all it sounds from the description (14a) it is a 14 gauge fusible link which is a wire that will burn out like a fuse, check for 12 volts with a multimeter or test light from the fuse box and then continue down the circuit until you cannot find power. Just before this point you should be able to see a part of the wire that looks different and that should be the fusible link.
SOURCE: where exactly near the steering wheel is the fuse
there is one located on the left upper side of the driver side next to steering and then the main one is located under the hood in the upper left hand driver side area inside of a black box.
