Take off the lug nuts and if the wheel doesn't want to come off you may have to give it a 'mule kick'. If that doesn't work then you could try using a hammer hitting the tire only.

what is anti-theft light doing? It should come on solid for about 2 sec after you turn the key on then turn off. If it is flashing after this then it is not seeing the computer chip in the key and you have a PATS problem.

its very easy, takes maby 10min, there are hidden screws under the cougar symbols on the door, and under the black circles on the carpeted part of the door, they all just pop off, then there are a few on the ouside rim of the door 2 on each side i think, it might require a little jiggling but the car is pretty simple

Check the level and make sure it wasn't overfilled. (running, hot and in park) If the level is ok, look for the vent. It should be on top of the trans, maybe by the linkage. It should be covered by either a metal or rubber cap. That may be clogged.

There are 3 bolts. You'll need a LOT of socket extensions and a car hoist!
and a lot of time and patients.
But an even better idea is to just check the wire connections make sure they are well connected and no gaps on the female connectors if you suspect a bad alt.
