Need a little more info:
By "not start" do you mean won't crank, or cranks but no start?
Since you meantioned alt and battery ok I'm guessing won't crank.
You said on occasion, but on these occasions, what steps did you take to get it running?
Was the battery dead?
An off the top off my head guess with info I have, might be trans or brake selector switch isn't making or a dead spot on starter.
When it won't start try moving gear selector around, if no help try rocking the car forward and aft while out of park(careful not to roll away) just move your body aggressively while holding the steering wheel.
Then put it back in park and try to start it.

When you say it won't start do you mean nothing happens when turning the key car won't turn over if so then more than likely your starter is getting bad and when the starter quits spinning it probably stops on a bad spot on the brushes and looses it's connection if that's the case next time vet someone to turn the key while you take a hammer and hit the starter right on the side of the body don't hit the solonoid but if it starts right up then it's the starter going bad replace it.

SOURCE: airbag light stays on 2005 jeep liberty

It probably will cost a few bucks to get the code reset, but you don't need to go to the dealership, most shops with a good scanner equipped for air bag code reading will be able to diagnose and reset the light. The most probable reason for the code is the battery being dead for a while, there is a capacitor in the airbag circuit to make sure the airbag can go off in a collision even if the battery disconnects itself in the process. There is a slim chance it might be something else but either way the shop should be able to tell you what the problem is, and get it fixed... But, just for fun, before doing all this, i'd disconnect the battery for 30 minutes to an hour and reconnect it back, some systems do effectively reset themselves this way.

SOURCE: how to replace rear brake pads on 2005 jeep liberty

put the back of car on jack stands and secure the front tires so it does not roll and then remove the bolts off the back of the caliper there is normally two one at top and one at bottom and spray it with some kind of oil for rust and make sure you have the right size socket before you try to loosen them and once caliper is off and the old pads removed take one of the old pads and squeeze the piston on the caliper back in by using a "C" clamp and also remove some of the brake fluid from the master cylinder before you do this put the new ones back on and check the brake fluid and make sure it is full and then pump the brakes to make sure you have a good pedal also put some "No Squeak" brake stop on the back of the pads so they don't squeak they will have that where you buy the pads from

SOURCE: rear suspension,bushings,2005 jeep liberty

Generally the bushings aren't too expensive (likely about 25-30 each...But, unless you have done this kind of work, driving the bushings out and installing them can be difficult without a press. I've done many in-shop and its nothing like the ones I've done at remote locations using a hammer and chisels etc. You can do this yourself but I'd opt to do the r&r at home and have a machine shop do the actual bushing pressing. If you damage the arm ends you will need to replace the arm or do a bunch of bending to get the bushings back in place.
If you do have a press, than go at it!!

SOURCE: I have a 2008 Jeep Liberty sport it has 39600 back-up lights not

If you have tested fuses and bulbs with test light, and they check out,
the next step is to put you jeep in reverse with the key on,and use your test light to probe the wires before they enter the bulb sockets for power,if you have power replace sockets,if not check to make sure wires are still connected to back up light switch on trans,if you find no problem there, replace the switch

Testimonial: "Thank you for the info on my jeep. I brought it to my mechanic and he could not find where the new switch goes.I will bring it to the dealer."

2005 Jeep Liberty, does not re- start, does not crank, no solenoid click.

From your description it seems as if the relay is bad or else the battery is shorting out inside and needs to be replaced. I would change the relay to start.

I tried to start my 2005 jeep liberty and it wont start battery is good

If it cranks but won't start, you will need to find out if it has no spark to the plugs or no fuel to the injectors.

My 2005 jeep liberty will not start. Starter is good. What could be the probable cause?

Check the battery for bad connections..take off the cables and clean both the battery posts and the cable connectors and then try...if no start, then see if you can check the battery voltage with a voltmeter...at stand still(engine not running) the battery should read 12.5 volts...if battery is ok, then there is the possibility that the starter solenoid, the starter relay, or (in rare cases) the ignition switch is bad

2004 jeep liberty 3.7 eng will not crank over jump start it will start battery only year old

Sounds like your altenator is bad. Most part stores will test for free, in or out of vehicle. Battery, Alt, and starter can be checked for free.
