Sounds like the ac might need charging-it certainly would cost a lot less than a compressor. Sometimes it pays to start at the bottom, check out the simple less- costly DIY solutions first, maybe eliminating the those high end dealers prices Good Luck

SOURCE: dual climate control

There is a thing called a blend door, it controls air temp, that is where the problem is, most common issue is the motor that operates the door fails.

SOURCE: my air blows hot even tho my climate control is on cold

U have a stuck air temp control blend door, either the actuator motor is defective or the door is warped and has jammed, one thing is that u must remove the dash to rcheck replace these parts.

SOURCE: Only cold air on passenger side

I would first check and make sure that you have enough Freon in the system, on climate control dual systems only one side will put out cold air if the system is low on Freon. Eventually, both sides will put out warm/hot air if the system continues to loose Freon. As with all leaks the system should be checked and then the leak causing component replaced/repaired.

SOURCE: Changed batteries and climate control not working properly

The actuator has gone bad. They can be programed, and reset, but usaly they are bad, and that will only patch the problem for a while.

SOURCE: 2004 chevy tahoe, dual climate control, blowing different temps

Its more then likely the temp door broken or temp door motor broken/stuck. There is 2-3 of these motors under the dash on the side of the evap/heater core box. Some require extensive labor to replace, good luck

I can think of at least a dozen things that could cause that. But when you keep the year, make, model a secret, it's much harder to give any kind of answer

A/c works on and off at random

does your car have enough antifreeze in it? If the car is running hot then your a/c is not going to cool properly. I would check that. I would also check to see if the clutch on the air compressor is trying to go out. To check the clutch grab the front pulley of the compressor and if it is loose or wiggles then your clutch is going out. You can replace just the clutch without having to change the entire system.

2008 Chevy Impala with no air conditioning

if its blowing cold air sometimes then you must have power at the compressor sometimes. it sounds like a high pressure switch is opening probably because the pressure in the system is getting to high. you could have a restriction somewhere like in a line or in the condenser. there are are two main types of a/c systems but both use a a restriction before the evaporator to control the pressure in the system it might be stuck. look for any frost around the a.c lines that usually indicates a restriction. if not i have another way of finding out if its an electrical issue but that involves pulling the a.c relay and jumping pins which can be dangerous and you could short out the computer

I have a 1999 323i BMW. The AC doesnt blow cold (on cool days it blows cool temperature but not common A/C Cold Air, Hot Days it blows Warm/Hot Air). The heater blows warm air but definitely not common...

First things first.....You must have the air conditioning system hooked up to an a/c system machine and then checked for leaks and also read low and high side pressures. If there are leaks then low Freon (R134a) content and low refrigerant oil can cause the a/c system to not engage the a/c compressor which basically means you will not have proper defrost functionality nor regular air conditioning. Most shops, when working with your air conditioning, will install air conditioning dye to assist them in locating leaks and is the first step in diagnosing all a/c systems. Post the findings after thw

I have an 2006 chevy Impala when I turn on the deforst it also turns on the air condition and blows cold air I change the thermostat

When you turn on the front window defroster, the A/C compressor is suppsed to engage.
If all of the guages are set to hot and the A/C is off when the defroster is turned on and the vehicle is at normal operating temp., then you may have a faulty blend door actuator and needs to be replaced.

Air conditioning is blowing out hot and cold air

It sounds like the dual climate control valve. It is supposed to close the valves when the a/c is turned on, but they get stuck sometimes. I have already replaced 2.

What happens is the valves get stuck and the engine heat will blow over the cool air making it feel warm, even though the a/c is working fine.

If it started out on one side of the car cooling better than the other than you can almost bet this is the problem.

They will be called a heater control valve by most auto parts stores. I think the part is Motorcraft YG378.

Another way to make sure this is the problem is to find the dccv and clamp the two top black hoses with pliers or something and see if the car gets cooler. It will still not get cold but this will let you know if the dccv is the problem.

In my 2002 chevy impala only cools down in the passenger side but dose not on the driver side. what is wrong?

I assume that you are talking about your air conditioning. The passenger side blows cold and the drivers side is warm. I had the same problem on a couple of my cars, including my 2002 Impala.
I also assume that you know how to use the climate controls for driver vs. passenger.
You need some freon. It may not need very much... maybe 8-12 ounces.
if you're semi-skilled, you can try it yourself with a kit from the parts store. The dealer or shop will charge you at least $125 and they will look for the leak.
It sounds like you have a slow leak, and that could be tough to find.
