I own a 2002 GMC sierra 2500HD, the inside rearview mirror temp and comp. doesn't work only the temp indicator light is lite. The connector behind the mirror seems secure and plugged in completely.

SOURCE: 05 GMC shows wrong temp. for out side temp. on

Ensure that your Outside Temp Sensor is in the correct place, installed near the radiator on the lower portion of the vehicle, under the hood.

Check/replace if broken or damaged.

SOURCE: 2002 gmc sierra won't start, security light came on

The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. Remember too, the TDM controls the security light. Sometimes you can have ALL the symptoms and no lights.

SOURCE: sunroof and courtesy light not working in 2002 dodge status RT coupe.

when things stop working I check fuses first.
wires usually have connectors on them so removing then replacing the connector would be a better fix. on/off not new connector
A wire may have become disconnected while working in the area.
They are probably under the headliner.

All of the gages on my dash stopped working and so did the rear view mirror temp thing, is it a fuse or what?

most likely a fuse. easiest way to check fuses is with a test light. connect light to ground and probe the back contacts on the fuses. if fuse is good both contacts will have power.

Temp sensor and compass not displaying on my 2003 yukon xl

Yes. Look in the Fuse Panel inside the Truck. Use a Good Maglight or LED Flashlight and Hold it Behind the Fuses to see the Blown Ones. It is usually in an AUX Outlet. Also check thr Fuse Relay Box under the Hood for a Blown Fuse using the Same Method. See if there is a Relay for this also. If so, Replace it. Let me know if you need any more Help! 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 heated mirror stopped heating

I do not see a separate fuse for the heaters, so you have power thru the 25 amp breaker. You will, have to pull the panel up or access the mirror connector to trace power to the elements. Not sure which is easier. I have pasted all of the relevant diagrams.
Likely failure modes are open heating element and failed heater switch.
