VSS - vehicle speed sensor maybe . Take an have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Not auto zone or advance . Need professional scan tool to check all the modules on the vehicle . insturment cluster , BCM , etc.... The computer needs VSS input for the transmission to shift right .

Had same problem with mine. First would not show speed until reached about 25 MPH and then was intermittent. Starts with ABS and Brake Light on and no speed. Checked another website and suggested pulling sensor out of top of rear differential. About $30 part but in hard to reach area. be careful when reinstalling. Do not tighten bolt too fast as this may break the part. Allow it to slowly slide into place. Takes 30-60 minutes to replace. Works fine now.

Check the brake switch adjustment first. If it is ok it's probably your turn signal switch. The brake lights run through this switch and if the contacts in it are bad the brake lights will either not work at all or will work sometime.

Theres a sensor on top of the rear axle called a speed sensor replace it , That will fix the abs and speedo problems.

I am having the same problem. I replaced the speed sensor on the rear diff. and the problem went away but when i started it the next day the problem came back. If you figure it out let me know.
