SOURCE: Changing the alternator belt

DAWN, AS I UNDERSTAND IT, YOU WANT TO DO THIS YOURSELF? GREAT! CAN DO! OK, FIRST YOU NEED TO LOOK AT THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE AND SEE WHERE THIS BELT GOES AND IF THERE ARE ANY BELTS AFTER IT,OR THAT IS ,IN FRONT OF THIS BELT. THESE WILL HAVE TO BE REMOVED BEFORE THE NEW BELT CAN GO ON. TO GET THE NEW ALTERNATOR BELT ON YOU WILL NEED TO LOOSEN THE ALTERNATOR. YOU WILL SEE AN ADJUSTMENT ARM THAT WILL NEED TO BE LOOSENED, THEN THE RETAINING BOLTS ON THE ALTERNATOR. YOU DON'T HAVE TO REMOVE THEM, JUST LOOSEN THEM SO THE ALT. WILL MOVE. ANY OTHER BELTS THAT HAVE TO BE MOVED , JUST DO THE SAME. DAWN, MOST IMPORTANT, THE INTERNET HAS REPAIR MANUALS ONLINE THAT YOU CAN SEE THIS PROCEEDURE AND DODGE WITH HAVE SHOP MANUALS ALSO YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO VIEW ONLINE AFTER ENTERING THE JOB LISTING NEEDING TO BE DONE. ALSO, AND THIS IS A BIG ONE, THE PUBLIC LIBRARY HAS SHOP MANUALS THAT YOU WILL FIND YOUR CAR AND THE BELT CHANGING JOB. YOU CAN THEN PHOTOCOPY THE PAGES YOU NEED TO DO THE JOB! GO FOR IT GIRL! YOU CAN DO IT! IF YOU DON'T HAVE ALL THE TOOLS! NO SWEAT! MOST PARTS STORES RENT TOOLS FOR THE JOB, SO YOU'RE COVERED THERE! JUST REMEMBER THAT ONCE THE BELT IS ON, YOU HAVE TO REVERSE THE ORDER AND RETIGHTEN EVERYTHING AND MAKE SURE NOTHING IS LOOSE! WHEN YOU PRESS DOWN ON THE NEW BELT IT SHOULDN'T DEFLECT MORE THAN 1/2 INCH! OK? TAKE YOUR TIME AND YOU CAN DO IT! IT WOULD HELP TO HAVE ANOTHER GIRL THERE TO HAND YOU STUFF AND FIND PARTS THAT DROP UNDER THE CAR ETC. YOU #2 IS CALLED " THE GOPHER " GO FER THIS AND GO FER THAT " JUST KIDDING, BUT IT'S A LOT LESS SCARY WITH TWO. ALSO, IF YOU LOOK FOR REPAIR MANUALS LOOK FOR " CHILTONS " OR " HAYNES " THOSE ARE THE BEST AND ARE ACTUALLY WRITTEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD, WHICH ALWAYS HELPS! IF YOU NEED MORE HELP,REPLY TO ARCLIGHT1217. I CHECK MY EMAIL 5-6 TIMES A DAY. GOOD LUCK!

SOURCE: Looking for cambelt timing marks/ positions please, Twin cam engine Thanks Kevin

these bend valves if belt breaks while running
Align the timing marks on the camshaft gears to the notches on the camshaft cover, using the intake gear mark for the intake gear and the exhaust gear mark for the exhaust gear.
Align the mark on the crankshaft gear with the
notch at the bottom of the rear timing belt cover.

Change alternator belt in a mazda mx-3

If your engine are the 1,6 l , it is the same engine as my MX5 91.
You have to remove power steering belt first if you have one. Loosen the mounting bolt located behind the pump pulley, then loosen the tensioner bracket bolts( one on the engine bracket and one in front of the adjusting bolt). After unscrew the adjusting bolt and push down the pump. Remove the belt.
Now, it is the alternator. Loosen the mounting bolt located under the alternator, then loosen the tensioner bracket, but only the only in front of the adjusting bolt. Unscrew the adjusting bolt and pull up the alternator and remove the belt.
When you tightening the new belt, the belt should be able to make a 1/4 turn, to make sure it is not to tight.

Is it hard to change an alternator on a ford focus zetec 2000

Hello, This job is alot harder on your car than most that's for sure. It really depends on your mechanical ability and time vs the amount your willing to pay someone else. This job is easy if your not afraid to loosen the passenger motor mount and slid the engine forward about an inch with a pry bar. (Which sounds alot harder than it is) But the Hanes manual lists alot of things to do to get around the motor mount.

Per Haynes Manual.
Place Coolant Expansion Tank to one side.
Lift out Power Steering Reservoir and put to one side.
Remove DriveBelt.
Unscrew Wiring Loom bolt and move wiring to one side.
Remove Ground Cable from Strut Tower.
Bent the ground bracket down as much as possible.
Move Canister Purge Valve to one side.
Remove Plastic Cover from Alternator.
Unscrew and the alternator mounting bolt nearest the engine first.
Unscrew the other retaining bolt until it has fully disengaged from the bracket (not possible to remove bolt from alternator at this stage).
Lift the alternator out, Pulley side facing upwards.
Take care not to damage or you might screw your surrounding components!

I would say if you dont work on cars or have mechanical ability you should prob take it to a profesional. I hope my answer helped more than it scared you....lol....Have a great weekend and please rate my answer if you felt it was helpful
