SOURCE: 1994 f150 rear main seal leaking.

This is not possible. If you do end up putting a seal in, make sure that you pack grease around the girdle spring so that when you tap it in, the spring does not pop out.

SOURCE: rear main seal is leaking on a Ford Mustang 2003 V-6

In order to replace the rear main seal u have to pull the transmission out to access it, u will need a special seal installer tool to install the new rear main "full circle seal", it u don't use the special ford tool the seal will leak again, also if there is a groove worn ion the crankshaft the crank must be repaired or replaced or the or the seal will leak again, so this is avery diff job, a 9 on the scale of 1-10 with 10 being the mos difficult.

SOURCE: If you were to replace a rear main seal on a 1995 Honda Accord

Yes, the seal has a pressed fit and is bolted on te rear of the engine, in fact all japanese cars do that, keeps them from leaking for a long time.

SOURCE: Rear engine oil leak....

Oil leak can be attributed to several factors.
1. Gasket failure.
2. Uncontrolled Crank case pressure Failure.

RECOMENDATION:
Tighten both the valve cover and oil pan bolts.
Replace the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve and vacuum line.,

INFO: PCV
This is a valve causes a negative vacuum on the engine while its running, As to say if it had a leak in a valve cover it should not be leaking while its running, only when the engine it turned off.

Hope this tip guides you in the correct direction to solve this problem.

How to remove rear main seal from a 76 mercury monarch

Remove the oil pan. Remove the rear main bearing cap. Loosen the other main bearing caps. Using a special tool that resembles a chinese finger lock pull out the top part of the seal. It's a "rope" seal. Install the new seal in the block and the cap. Replace rear cap, torque all the main bearing caps to spec. Reinstall the pan. This job is pretty big for a novice - I don't recommend you try unless you have unlimited patience.

Rear main seal in 1998 plymouth breeze 2.0

For that seal, you need to remove the transaxle and the flywheel/flexplate. To remove the transaxle, you need to consult a repair manual. It's pretty involved, and you need to support the engine from above, hang it somehow, to keep it from dropping when the transaxle is removed.

what part of the engine is the oil leaking from?
if its the front, it could be the main rubber seal or gasket, if its the rear, it could be the main crankshaft seal.

How can I remove the crankshaft out of the engine block in order to replace the rear seal?

If you mean that the rear main seal is leaking, and it's not the oil pan seal...most all vehicles use a one piece seal, and you remove it by removing the transmission, and then the starter flex plate.

How to repair front crankshaft seal leaks oil

Need to get at the crankshaft seal, usually by removing the crankshaft pulley and using a seal remover to take out the old seal, then put a new seal in.

Here are some instructions on how to do the 'rear' seal:
Rear Main Seal Removal & Installation 2.4L, 3.3L & 3.8L Engines To Remove:
  1. Remove the transaxle and flexplate. CAUTION
Make sure not to damage the crankshaft sealing surface when removing the oil seal.
  2. Insert a flat-bladed pry tool or equivalent through the dust lip at an angle.
  3. Carefully pry the oil seal out of the engine. Pry against the chamfered edge of the crankshaft, do not damage the sealing surface of the crankshaft or an oil leak may occur.
To Install:
CAUTION
Smooth any burr or rough edge on the crankshaft with 400 grit sandpaper to prevent seal damage during installation.
NOTE: When installing seal, no lube on seal is needed.
  1. Place special tool 6926-1 seal guide or equivalent on crankshaft.
  2. Place the seal on the guide. Make sure the seal lip is facing the crankshaft and the guide tool remains on the crankshaft. Rear crankshaft seal installation (2.4L engine shown, 3.3L & 3.8L engines similar) chry-03-24-827.gif

    CAUTION
Do not drive the seal into the block past flush. An oil leak may occur.
  3. Drive the seal into the block using a seal driver or special tool 6926-2 and handle C-4171 until the tool bottoms out against the block and the seal is flush.
  4. Install the flexplate and transaxle.
3.0L Engine To Remove:
  1. Remove the transaxle and flexplate. CAUTION
Make sure not to damage the crankshaft sealing surface when removing the oil seal.
  2. Remove the oil seal with housing from the rear of the engine block.
  3. Remove the oil seal from the housing.
To Install:
  1. Clean the sealing surfaces on the seal housing and engine block.
  2. Use a commercial seal installer to install the seal in the seal housing.
  3. Apply a light film of motor oil to the seal lip.
  4. Apply silicone sealant to the oil seal housing sealing surface and install the housing with seal on the engine block. Tighten all bolts to 104 in. lbs. (12 Nm).
  5. Install the flexplate and transmission.

How difficult is it to repair a rear seal leak on a 98 durango

Go buy a can of Berryman's Chemtool B-12 (Auto Zone, Rieley's, WalMart, etc.). Have tools, oil, filter and drain pan on hand for oil change. Warm engine to operating temperature. SLOWLY add can of Berryman's to crankcase of running engine through long funnel. Adding too quickly will kill idling engine, so go slow. After adding, replace oil filler cap and allow to fast idle (2000 rpm or less) for 30 minutes. Turn off engine and drain oil immediately. remove dirty oil filter. Let drain for 30 minutes. Replace plug, spin on new filter, add oil (do not overfill); start with 4 qts. and start briefly and then turn off. let stand for 20 minutes and check with dipstick. Add slowly to bring oil up to full mark; NOT ABOVE. You have just repaired your leaking rear main seal. Berryman's softens and expands rubber seals, stopping 95% of leaks caused by dried out rubber seals. DO NOT use this on cars/trucks that use the old fashioned rope seals. Ask a parts man what kind of seal a 98 Durango has. It washes the wax off the rope and it will leak worse than before. Ray (garage owner)

If the fluid is red it is your front transmission seal, if it is black it is your rear main bearing seal in the engine.

Oil leak in a 98 plymouth breeze 2.0

I've had a 1990 Acclaim, a 1990 Shadow, and a 1998 Breeze, all have a head gasket leak. The Breeze was the only one to have oil leak and it was on the rear of the engine. I'd guess that's your problem.
