After 2 years , definitely not a chain issue
more like a fuel pressure problem from blocked filters , fuel pump , fuel pressure regulator or injector problems
run the fault codes to determine which

remove coolant.remove thermostat remove bottom radiator hose to water pump.put a empty container under the radiator.take a water hose put it where thermostat goes flush out the rust in the water as it come out the water pump .if stream water is small keep flushing until you get a study sream of clear water. also flush out radiator. lower water pressure dont flush radiator it with high water pressure you could burst it. make clean the over flow jug .make sure it not stopped up.put in a new thermostat and radiator pressure cap. fill radiator with half antifreeze and half water.bleed the coolant system.

SOURCE: Oil light flashing, last oil change 7 wks ago

I belive they didn't reset the oil light timer. I belive the sequence is 1. key on (not acc with engine off)
2. step on the brake pedal 5 times within 10 seconds. 3. key off. 4. start car. 5. check if the light went out. you may have to try it a few times to get it.

SOURCE: transmission issues (I think)

Use a engine scanner to pull codes, If none it sounds like the lock-up torque converter may not be disengaging at idle. Or you have a idle air control valve or TPS going bad, then repair codes by replacing failed sensor or shift control solenoid as needed. If no codes are present your transmission could have a internal failure. It's also been know that oil transmission fluid in the system will have a higher fluid retention causing the 2nd gear solenoid to stick causing the transmission to stay in second till the line pressure rises and drops back to first with a hard shift. Keep me posted be glad to get your transmission running again

How do i know if my all wheel drive is working 2003 aztek

What light is lit ? When light's are lit on the instrument cluster , air bag , check engine , ABS etc... usually means there is a problem with that system , an there are DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in that systems control module . You need to take it to a qualified repair shop an have diagnostics done to see what the problem is .

I have a 2003 aztek its over heating on shot drives i think its the radiator cap. when i put a piece of rag in it it works fine until the rag gets wet.

I don't think it's the radiator cap. I'd just replace the thermostat and see if that resolves the problem. you can also remove the thermostat just to see if it still runs hot.

if it runs hot with a new thermostat or without one, then have the engine professionally flushed. this is a pressurized flush.

without more information on mileage or vehicle, thats the best place to start on this issue.

Why my Aztek wont stay running

Put a Fuel Gauge on the Fuel System, see what is happening if the Pressure is dropping below 40 PSI, there is your answer. If it stays, then you have an Electrical issue.

I have a 2003 Pontiac Aztek that slams into reverse only going from drive to reverse. i have changed the fluid and filter but still does it. Again its only from drive to reverse and every other gear runs...

Has the idle speed been checked, high idle will cause this. Try ckleaning the throttle body and idle speed control valve and disconnect the battery negative for 5 minutes and see if it helps.

the question is-- was you foot on the brake at home or was just the hand brake applied
when driving , slowing , stopping standing , all have the foot on the brake which is activating a brake booster and if that is faulty , the vacuum leak causes the problem
