My 1995 Buick park ave drives fine most of the time but on occasions, it suddenly breaks down and won't start again unless I keep trying to about for 30 mins -1 hour and then it spits and fires and then suddenly is going fine again. When this happens, the windows stop working?? It has currently broken down again and this time I can't get it started. If anyone knows what is causing this it would be much appreciated if you can help me out with any info as I can't afford an auto-electrician at this time. Thanks
That makes a lot of sense what you're saying, it can happen anywhere at any time. I don't know what the engine ground straps are, or look like, or where they are located, I will try google and call my mechanic for advice, thanks. This car has no carb, it is fuel injected, also the battery was fully charged when this happened. I've tried getting it started again with jumper cables on as I used much of the battery trying to start it when it happened. This can happen anywhere at any time.. Sometimes it partly starts...spitting and coughing, but it seems like it's not getting enough fuel or there's a bad connection, the engine turns over perfectly fine. Thanks heaps anyway, for your advice and I will mention it to my mechanic when I call him. This car has no carb, it is fuel injected, also the battery was fully charged when this happened. Wade from the symptoms you're expressing with the sputtering and intermittent electrical failure. Check your engine ground straps for break or corrosion.
Main ground can and does create those textbook symptoms.
Generally it comes and goes from vehicle vibration and temperature. Where any and everything from as much as a pothole / uneven surfaces or humid or rainy weather can cause shifting or moisture to exploit the poor / bad bad connection.
Hi.. Disassemble and clean the carb, particularly the jets. I suspect the charge light being on is a result of your destroyed battery, which needs to be replaced. Sta-bil over the winter and a smart trickle charger will prevent the problems you are having in the future...

if valve timing off due to worn timing chain engine wont start.if you suspect timing chain need replacing if you hear slapping noises best replace timing chain quick as possible if you keep driving timing chain will break cause engine damage.
This is likely a problem with the Mass Airflow sensor, it is a sensor that reads the amount of air going into the engine, when it fails it causes severs hesitation and power loss. Contact a local parts store or your GM dealer for a rebuilt one, the part is about $150.00. It is locate in the air intake hose to the engine.
You really need someone to look at the car. A friend who knows a little will help. This could be the main crank seal, could be a hole in the oil pan, or something else. In the meantime don't drive it till you find out.
they are probably right, its a common problem, the smell is from you loading the battery and starter and cables by constantly cranking engine, the windows on many of those cars have binding tracks so just the battery wont move them as fast as with the alternator going sounds crazy be so ture, good luck,ps. dont take a genius to test that fuelpump, they hopefuly have, good luck .
The problem is the car think the park brake is on (intermittently). I would check the park brake switch, perhaps it's loose, or perhaps the park brake is pushed down to the first "click" spot. Also check the wiring connection to the switch, and the wiring nearby. Good luck!
