2001 Chevy tracker 2.0 run ideal but when start down the road melts 1coil

It sounds like your 2001 Chevy Tracker with a 2.0 liter engine may be experiencing a problem with the ignition system. If one of the coils is overheating and melting, it is likely that there is a fault with that particular coil or with the circuit that supplies power to it.
Some potential causes for this issue include:
  • A faulty ignition coil
  • A short circuit in the wiring to the ignition coil
  • A malfunctioning ignition control module
  • An issue with the spark plugs or ignition wires
I recommend having a mechanic diagnose the issue in order to determine the root cause of the problem and recommend the necessary repairs. It is important to address any issues with your vehicle as soon as possible to avoid further damage and to ensure your safety while driving.

2001 tracker will knock senser make car overheat

Hi Mr. Bob Kendall. No , a knock sensor will not cause a car to over heat . A stuck closed thermostat , cooling fans not working , clogged cooling system , could be the gauge is reading wrong . A bad knock sensor would cause the check engine light to come on . Also would probably set a DTC - diagnostic trouble code .
I just have to mention Mr Kendall , back in 1984 i got my start as a Automotive .technician at Bob kendall chevrolet in Vancouver , Washington . lol that's funny .

Does the pcm on a 2001 chevy tracker have any control over the speedometer

Yes it does but only indirectly. Keep in mind the PCM is the very least likely part to cause a problem with the speedometer. The common problem is the tiny little motor that moves the needle files.

This is caused by one of the things you already replaced , including the A/C compressor and power steering pump. Or it could be from a wrong size or over stretched belt.
