First check the fuse and then use a test light to see if there's power coming in and going out of the latch switch. If there's no power to the switch then the fuse is bad or there's a short in the wire from the fuse box to the switch. If there's power to the switch but the light doesn't light up on the other post when you press the button, then replace the switch, If the switch is good then check power at the lock (unplug the plastic connector and probe both terminals with the test light while a helper presses the latch button). Sometimes spraying contact cleaner on door lock and hatch switches will fix the problem. And cleaning electrical grounds and wire connectors with either steel wool, wire brush or sand paper will often get old electrics working again.

I have a 1998 Ford Explorer Limited. The passenger door electric lock is freezing and the door will not open. Once unlocked it works fine. Has had actuator replaced and isn’t the problem. Key won’t open it...

Just replaced all outer handles and 2 interior handles and a door latch on a sport track. The biggest problem with the locks were that they needed to be lubed. Take a spray like wd-40 and spray the latches. If the door panels are still off then it is easier. Also spray the window sliders to have them work easier. All the actuators work off the same signal. The one that does not work just may need a little lube.

Rear latch lock stuck in the open position

use a round bar ( a screw driver ) and place it under the latch and pull the latch out as you press the button to unlock as if you were opening the door.

2006 jeep liberty rear lift glass won;t close

Mine did this too....the latch kept getting stuck. If you put the key in the ignition and unlock the power doors, pull on the gate door (don't open it, just enough to release the latch), and it should come out so the hatch will latch.

Does the rear lift door latch on a 2008 ford escape have a fuse

No the rear door latch is not electric....but does have a electric lock which is fuse 17 in the inside fuse panel....not the one under the hood. The rear lift glass is controlled by electric and is in the same circuit fuse 17. Good Luck

Can´t open the rear tail gate/door. Have tried the emergency opening option (holding down the 2 lock buttons in the car) but that didn´t work either. When pressing the rear door "handle" to open...

If you squeese the handle put your head near the badge you should hear one micro switch operating the window and a noise like well hard to explain but its a solenoid operating the rear latch after the window drops, you can get the inside panel off bit hard with door locked; at bottom of door panel is four philips screws take them out and then the panel pulls from the bottom up,cut round water shredder and you can operate latch manually to get it open then check to see if micro switch in handle is working its not a rear wiper fault or window fault as they work, the relay for the rear door latch and the rear window are behind the offside rear quarter panel 3 connectors for rear door electrics, the relays are up by the seat at top,its not normally a relay issue either rear door latch solenoid or micro switch in back handle but rule out the handle as window works.

Disconect battery and wait 5 min and try again it worked on mine.

Hope helps.
