You may need a shop manual to get the test procedures. You would need to know if you are getting power to the pink black wire going to the module, and a signal from the crank sensor. The computer controls timing.
the cap should be marked on a vortec 4.3 liter. the left side of engine is from front #1 #3 and #5 cylinders. the right side from front is #2 #4 and #6.
i would check the crank sensor first ,remove it and then use a automotive meter across the two wires,then pass a spanner over the sensor rapidly and with multimeter on lowest setting for a milliamp reading you should see a flicker on the needle if you do not then renew the sensor
THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR IS ON THE FRONT SIDE OF MOTOR DIRECTLY BEHIND THE STARTER......ITS VERY HARD TO SEE BUT IT CAN BE FELT TO PUT A SOCKET WRENCH ON IT....REMOVE WIRING PLUG BEFORE DOING THIS... IT MUST BE PLUGGED IN CORRECTLY FOR THE MOTOR TO RUN AND CAN NOT BE BY PASSED. INTERESTEDLY ENOUGH IT PICKS UP ITS SIGNAL OFF THE CRANKSHAFT COUNTERWEIGHT, HAVE THIS SAME CAR AND THAT IS FROM THE MANUAL.
cleaned tps sensor with trottle body and put in injector cleaner with premium gasoline and found when i had the lube and oil done they loosened a spark plug wire. although it is not perfect yet it seems to be headed in the right direction. thanks for your help. pat
Your day time running lamp relay is located in the fuse box under the hood. Remove the fuse box cover and on the bottom of the cover you will see a fuse and relay diagram.
