2004 ford taurus hesitates when I hit the gas?

This is happening because of your fuel pressure which is slowing down when you open the throttle to the intake manifold. you are losing fuel pressure somewhere from the gas tank and the fuel rail. do a fuel pressure check test. that might do the trick.

Well they have allot problems with EGR valves
how about do tune up what the miles?
Spark plugs and wires and spray out the throttle body spray
First try the throttle body spray cleaning it out made shure the spray oil based not carb spray without oil. You find if you got allot mile you could run the whole spray can in it clean the fuel injection out same time.
spray out run it run some more try run and spray same time. not just spray the whole can all at once. if got PCV vaule on the out side you can spray threw that rubber hose and replace pc value to if been over 30k
if smokes in the back thats the carbon your cleaning out the system.
