All of a sudden, RRSport HSE 2006 can not speed above 30mph. ... It's only an hour's drive away if your car could go straight upwards. .... My guess is that some control module got fried or out of whack when the power spike ...

Is the check engine light on ? Have you checked fuel pressure with a gauge ?

First check vacuum leaks. Some "check engine" light there? Try scanning the computer looking fault codes stored.

First replace the fuel filter.

I didn't see where you mentioned the MAF, or mass airflow sensor, my Volkswagon had the same problem. If I drove for more than 30min, the engine would basically bog, and sputter until basically you couldn't go but a few mph. Then you sit and wait maybe 20 min, and it ran fine for another 30min. Almost posotive!!!

YOU MAY HAVE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS GONING BAD HAVE THEM TESTED

have you tried having your fuel injectors cleaned on it. the engine might not be getting enough gas at take off. it might also be that your gas tank fuel pump or the other fuel pump going bad

travis do u have the mass air flow hooked up? what all is hooked up n what is disconected.? try fuel filter though. also if ya have a smart gm tech as afriend he could hook up tech2 n solve that by lookin at the data values
