Check the fuse under dash and relay under the hood.
Testimonial: "Checked that. I hear a clicking sound. Just won't open. Thank you."
It's either the button or actuator. Listen for a clicking sound when you press the button with trunk open. If you don't hear sound have a friend hook a multi meter up to the connection and set it to continuity and press button have friend listen for a beep it will be short if no beep replace button. If beep reconnect connection and perform the following press button and listen for sound if no sound replace actuator if sound close trunk and press button listen for sound if sound or no sound actuator is sticking.
Testimonial: "Thank you so much. There is a sound, just won't open. Would spraying it with a cleaner help?"
If sound is heard that means switch and electric part of actuator work. Check connection of actuator rod to trunk release could be broken or loose. The problem could also be that a piece in the actuator that activate trunk release is broken in which case you will need to replace actuator. Which is most likely the case. You could spray WD-40 into the trunk latch mechanism this will make it work better. If this fixes your problem great if not replace actuator.
Thank you. Think I need to replace the actuator. I used wd40. Didn't help.

Use a test light or volt meter an test for Voltage at the lock actuator when the button is pressed !
Plus the trunk release is controlled by the BCM - body control module !
Is there B+ voltage at the switch ? Check relay too !
If you can open it with a key , the electrical part of the actuator is no good , need a new one !
