If I remember correctly they built ramps around the pyramids and used a lot of workers, many of which were not slaves. This resulted in sevre slow downs in construction at harvest time. May be you have purchased an oversize belt, loose may cause jumping, see if there is any adjustable to tighten the belt is available besides the pulley, plus to check if pullye's alignment at two ends are in order. if these not work, then you have to replace the belt with proper size .
did you press the pullye back on the right direction? or beat it on with a hammer which i wouldnt advise i have seen that done a few times and it drives the shaft and bearings out the back side of the pump pretty much destroys it.. if the pulley is on back wards then remove it with a puller and turn it around
