It is stuck in P, the side button on the left cannot be pressed in to release the lever.
Fuse? Solenoid? Something that I can fix?
Thanks

The shift interlock does not allow the car to shift out of park unless the brake pedal is depressed.  Quick fix is with the car running to set the parking brake and turn the car to off and remover the key.  Put the key back in and turn one click to on.  Shift the car into neutral and you can start the car and go.  The repair for this is either the brake switch located on the brake pedal being replaced.  I had a broken wire leading to the switch that caused the problem.  It also can be a blown fuse.

The shift lock control mechanism is bad, this is what causes the transmission to not be able to be put into gear until you depress the brake pedal.

My 92 accord shift level moves but will not engage any gear

First check the trans fluid (if its not a sealed transmission). They wont shift in gear if they are to low. If that is fine, The shift solenoid has most likley gone bad.

Okay, you are correct, the key is stuck because of the shifter lock wont release, the most common reason is its stuck, you will need to remove the covering around shift to get to shifter lock release solenoid, there you will clean and lube it, you will need to move it by hand as you spray wd40 on the arms, you will see how it work by pressing the shift release and you will see to lever that gets pushed, it wont move because its stuck but you will see the levers move inside, hope this helps, good day.

1998 mustang automatic transmission stuck in park

probably the brake pedal switch (mounted on the brake pedal lever) starting to fail. it releases the shift lever and controls the brake lights coming on. you will need to replace this.

for now, turn the key in the ignition to the lock position (counter clockwise,) then to the off position (clock wise). In this position the brake shift interlock is disabled and you can move the shifter to neutral. these instructions are also in the owners manual in the driving section.

Gear shift is stuck and using release button on side does not work.

Check for something broke behind shifter like wiring or a pin. Shifter should move when you press brake pedal. Maybe the cable to the safety switch got disconected

2001 ford escort stuck in park lever won't move starts normally

If it wont move into gear, the safety switch is malfunctioning. You can take the plug out of the hole on the upper right side of the console just to the right of the gear shift lever. put a philips screwdriver in the hole and press down. this will manually release the gear shifter mechanism.

My transmission wont go into gear none of them work 1,2,3,4,overdrive, or reverse My 97 Mustang turns on alright, but I can't shift it out of Park. It's totally stuck. Help?

Suggest you check your linkages to the tranny first, ensure nothing is bent. If your shift is controled with a wire cable, check it out also, maybe is rotten.

Additionally, you didn't clarify if your wheel is straight or turned to the extreme right or left. If that is the case, example: if the wheel is locked in the left turn position, pull on the steering a bit harder to the left to release the lever tension, that might get you out of park. Good luck!
