It depends on what parts you're thinking of. Some will carry over between years, and some may not. Minor restyling on the exterior and lighting may present some difficulty, and the 96 is an OBD2-emissions controlled engine, so its ECU, engine bay harness, and many sensors may not work on the earlier car (which is the much less-stringent OBD1 emissions control).

I've only had experience with struts, running lights, trunk gaskets and various under-hood brackets; so far everything has been interchangeable. It may not look EXACTLY the same, but it fits. Hope it helps!

Hello! A quick suggestion, could your Catalytic converter be blocked/collapsed. This would restrict the full flow of exhaust gasses from the engine thus causing severe lack of power.

Infiniti j30 1995 jerking at high speeds, no check engine light? what could be the problem?

First off define "High" Speeds. Some models were equipped with throttle governors and or rpm limiters that prevented over revving and also kept the vehicle from exceeding certain speeds. Other than that, there are some auto stores that offer free computer scans that may be able to diagnose your problem.

Where is the thermostat located on a 1997 infiniti J30?

Remove the fan blade.
Remove the air induction pump.
Loosen up the alternator.
Remove that belt.
Lower coolant.
Remover water pump neck housing.
Now you can access the thermostat.

1997 infiniti J30 belt is squealing

I would suggest you check the idler pully that tensions the belt that runs the AC compressor. It is very common for the bearing in those to go bad. Beyond that, inspect and correct tension on the other two belts. Verify that both the alternator and water pump turn freely prior to re-installing the belts. NOTE: the are some older Nissan cars that have that same idler pully and the price will be far less dear than what Infiniti will charge you for it.

Should not be a problem. Your engine is the VG30DE, which is the same engine in the 90-96 non-turbo 300ZX. On those cars, the alternators were all interchangeable, so I see no problem with using an alternator from a different model year than your car.
