SOURCE: 1999 oldsmobile silhouette van won't start. no power to fuel pump

I have a silhouette and it had the same problem
Follow the fuel pump wiring harness to where it plugs into the floor of the van--pull the connectors apart--they will probably be corroded, and you will possibly have to change both wiring harnesses or connectors.

SOURCE: no power to electric fuel pump 88 5L 302

check the fuel pump relay this sends the power to the fuel pump,

also has the car been in a smash even a small one if so the car may be fit with a enersher switch that cuts off the fuel circuit.

recommend you by a repair manual from your local parts retailer for the exact locations of these 2 units

check the pulse on the injector wire with a noid lite or a meter. If no flash then you most likely need a computer. Its called a quad driver in the PCM thats fried. You may have a shorted component that caused it to fail.

Since you say it will run if you add fuel manually I don't suspect the crank sensor because you have spark.

SOURCE: 1988 vw Jetta power to fuel injector

If the fuel pump has power it may be a bad ground clean the plugs contact with electric contact cleaner it comes in a spray can. spray the inside of the plug and plug it on several times to rub off any corrosion on the plug and its contacts. By the way if the pump has power to it the relay is working when you turn the key one you can hear the fuel pump relay click.

SOURCE: 1988 chevy 2500 5.7 no por to fuel pump fuse

Fuel pump fuse is cut out by a relay and I believe the oil pressure switch.
The goal is to have the fuel pump shut down automatically if there is an accident and the engine stops.

How do you change out the fuel pump on a 98 oldsmobile cutlass year 1988 .can i go though the back seat

fuel pump is in the gas tank, you could look in the trunk, and see if there is an inspection port, that you could open, if not, you need to drop the tank, hope that it is empty, if not you need to drain it, then take it down

Location of fuel reset button

Hello rohoii.
Your Oldsmobile does not have one.
Ford has a "inertia switch" that is designed to shut off fuel in the event of an impact but no other North American brands are so equipped.
Your Oldsmobile fuel system will shut off if the engine stops.
Hope this helps you.

The fuel pump relay switch is located on the firewall, behind a plastic cover. It is a black plastic 1 inch by 1 inch switch with a four or five wire plug. It is designed to operate the fuel pump for 3 to 8 seconds when you turn the ignition switch on to prime the injector rail hope u find it
