yes can unplug connector at compressor---pull fuse if u are trying to by-pass by belt u will have to check clearance of the other accessories and measure for a smaller belt

yes. your exhoust problem has likely caused this.as a result,the oxygen sensors in the exhoust system are probably now bad.these sensors will couse the ses light to stay on.
