If bulbs and fuses are good, the remaining thing is the gear selector switch on the transmission.

SOURCE: i have a 2002 trailblazer

Hello irvigiv. Begin by checking your transmission fluid level. If the level is low, it will not shift properly causing the problem you are experiencing. Once you have the correct level [and always err on the side of slightly over filled vs slightly underfilled] it should shift. IF it does not, I recommend that you take it to an AAMCO repair shop if you have one near by. Otherwise any transmission shop since most transmission problems require special tools and special training. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

SOURCE: changed trans fluid in 2002 chevy blazer and now it wont shift into overdrive properly without hesitation

If it had lots of miles on the trans fluid befor you changed it that fluids additives broke down long ago and wore out most of the fiber material in your trans,,its a problem with alot of gm makes ,unfortunatly you now need to rebuild at least a portion of the trans

Whywontmy2002 trailblzer not shift into first or overdrive trans stays in third and starts off in second already replced shift solonoids

You started at the wrong end. The speed sensor controls the function of those solenoids you just replaced. Did you change the transmission Fluid and filter, it was due at 80,000 miles. Perform an OBDII scan of the stored fault history. let the OBDII scan be your guide to repairs, to avoid buying parts you don't need. Loss of speed sensor signal will result in no torque converter lock up or overdrive as well as no down shift back to 1st.

Have a P0757 DTC in a 2007 fusion . reader says that solonoid B is stuck on. need to know how to trouble shoot solonoid ,wiring and connectors all the way to the PCM.

Real Simple

You fail to realize that the Black Fluid is the result of the
former owner not changing the fluid & it was black from
over heating as a result

You are in denile & fail to realize that the clutches have
burned up & that is why the fluid is black

I did once own a trans repair business,so your only option
is to pull the unit & rebuild it

Your Ford Tech had a good idea but didn't want to help you
or hurt your feelings, asumming he knew anything at all about

I could have told you all this without opening the hood, before you
got the car.
No fluid changes every 3 years, the unit comes out

having had siimilar issues, I found my problem to be a non functioning solonoid that is the electronic switch for shifting from 2 to was located under the battery tray. My mechanic had to follow the cord to find the solonoid, and once replaced shifts fine.

My 95 olds cutlass v6 3.1L sometimes wont shift out of third gear and it just completely shut off on the thruway... what does this mean?

Its possibly a bad shift solonoid on the trans itself. These trannys' 4T60E have 3 solonoids for shifting 1 for 1st and 2nd, 1 for 2nd to 3rd, and 1 for 3rd to overdrive. Its quite possible that the valve is sticking in the valve body. This can be a somewhat difficult job to do. But the solonoids arent that expensive. I would suggest a trans fluid flush and a new screen/filter and see if that helps. If you take it to a dealer the solonoid/s replacement will be around $800 or more.

Changing my shift solonoids

these are a pain the best way to remove the pan is by removing the 2 bolt from the trans mount and jack up the transmission try to sneak the pan out that way it is tight! worst case the transmission cross member needs to be removed any other way results in damage to those solenoids if you already have a broken1 to remove it there is a u shaped clip and a plug that hold it to the valve body good luck!

I had the same problem with my 1999 Pontiac montana. Unfortunately it is a transmission shop problem. There is a shift solonoid that commonly goes out on these montana's and you have to remove the transmission from the vehicle, remove the left side of the transmission and change the solonoid and recalibrate it. This fixed my montana from the same problem. IF you do not change this solonoid, it will cause tremendous wear on the transmission and it may cost you a new transmission which are relatively hard to find and expensive. I hope this helps. Transmission slips at 40 km/h

seems to me , the 3rd gear shift range is slipping.
You probably have internal failure.
You should take to transmission shop
