Wipers dont work

If you are positive that your problem is ONLY the motor, these directions won't help.

However, if your windshield wipers do work, but when you turn them "off" they won't return to their resting place (which is at the bottom of your windshield, next to the hood) - instead they just stop straight up on your windshield, here's how to fix that using only a couple of screwdrivers.

What has caused that? You were probably your using the wipers to remove snow or snow and ice from your windshield instead of using your window scraper! Unfortunately the wiper bracket (it's the piece having a tab that has been bent) on many Oldsmobiles isn't strong enough to remove even light snow and/or ice.

Your windshield wiper motor has a mounted bracket over it that has a little metal tab (a "Park Tab") on it that the crank arm assembly has to "hit" in order to "park" the wipers in the correct position. The Park Tab is not covered up - it's part of the mounted bracket - out in the open, and you can see it.

In a many cases this "park tab" is either bent or broken, and if it's bent can be adjusted using a screwdriver back to its original position. It it has broken off, the part that holds that tab will need to be replaced. (I had a bent tab twice and two repair shops said I needed an entirely new motor, when I didn't.)

Go to this link: http://redhouseon7th.com/redhouse/howto/2009OldsmobileWiperRepair/index.html then follow its directions - they are excellent and simple. The link has pictures to show you exactly what to do, step-by-step showing pictures of what it looks like at each step. The only tools you will need are a couple of screwdrivers, and you don't need to replace the motor IF your windshield wipers are "stopping" in or near the "12 o'clock" position. And the "fix" costs are zero. (The repair shop charged me $850.00 the first time I had the problem.)

It's a problem with many Oldsmobiles - the bracket with the "park tab" should have been made stronger in the first place. After my first repair cost, I looked up directions and fixed it the next time. I live in Iowa, and I now always use my snow/ice scraper every time instead of my windshield wipers, and have had no more problems. I love my Intrigue!

Hope your problem is solved! Best wishes!

Wipers will not return to rest position

Oldsmobile Intrigues are known for this problem. The good thing is that it probably won't cost you any money to fix it. It was probably caused by asking your windshield wipers to wipe off snow or ice from your windshield. The design of this wiper motor isn't strong enough to do that, though. All you will need to fix it is the link below, and pliers, and Phillips screw driver and a straight-blade screwdriver (a big one for leverage).

Once you get it fixed, it will remind you to clear your windshield by hand first next time, and if you don't, the fix you're going to make will probably work next time too. You're going to just bend a small tab back to its correct position, and a cam is involved, so you'll need pictures to help you get there. The link I suggest is shown at the bottom of this description. You can print the directions out, then take them to your car to do it step-by-step.

The link says the instructions are for a 2002 Intrigue, but mine is a 1998 and the directions worked perfectly.

Suggestion: If you "blow it" and bend the tab too many times so it breaks off, it's cheaper to buy a new windshield wiper motor online, and then use these directions to replace it. A repair shop charged me $700 to "fix" my wiper motor the first time, but ended up replacing it because the mechanics had no idea what to do with it. Because it was snowing and turning to ice, and I had only one car, I took it in. Now I won't ever have to do that again. Read and look at the directions 6 times, then use the directions! It's really simple.

Best wishes in advance on a job well done! (Think of all the fun you're going to have making money fixing this for others having Intrigues!)

2002 intrigue wipers / washer dont work

It can be faulty wiper motor or blown wiper control fuse.

Do you hear any kind of noise when you starter the wiper function. If yes then fuse is ok,but issue is wiper motor.
If no movement at all and no noise then its blown fuse or shorted/loose wiper control wiring:-----
For complete troubleshooting i suggest you few helpful links with accurate solutions.

I have a water leak in my 2002 oldsmobile intrigue on the passenger side, It only leaks when there is a heavy rain. any ideas?

I had this same problem. On the passenger side there is some gasket underneath where the windshield meets the plastic guard for the wipers that is prone to fall off. It's to protect from water entering through your passenger compartment filter. Take it to a local shop and just have them glue it back on. The water gets in through the cabin filter, so you may need to replace the filter as well if it's gotten moldy. Quick, easy fix.

Windshield wipers don't work, fuses are ok but wipers will not come on. Check engine light is on.

Check Engine light and Wipers are not interconnected. For Check Engine light, there may be some sensor signal problem.

For wipers, if the fuses are good, then you have to look out burnout wiper motor. Check for the multi-function switch to operate the wipers may lost its contact points or any wiring cut.

My best solution, which you may not want to hear is new wiper motors. It seems like a common thing in these cars (the wipes don't go down all the way.

The windshield wipers will not come on

If you have power to the motor then you should try runng a new ground wire from the body dirrectly to the motor housing, after of course you checked all the fuses. If the wiper motor runs but the wipers don't work you may need what they call a "transmission" replace that the wiper arms are driven by.
