99 jimmy. On the passenger side kick plate, there's a loose 2" orange electronic harness, what does it belong to?

The # 7 Electronic Fuel Injection system (EFI) fuse 7.5A is located in the driver's side instrument panel.

passenger side kick plate. pull the harness out, untape it and dry it offlook for the orange wire, i beleive its got a green stripe down it, it should splice into 2 wires about 5 inches away from the door hinges. untape the splice and you have found your corrosion problem. cut the green out and splice it all back together. good luck

I have seen the switch in the dash go bad and also the 4x4 module in the passenger side kick panel will collect moisture you can look at the plug in of the harness for green corossion.

PCM Ford's Location:
* Ranger - behind instrument panel (cowl), center to both driver and passenger sides.
* Explorer/Mountaineer - behind instrument panel (cowl), (access from engine compartment dash panel) on passenger side to center of vehicle.
* All other F-Series, Expedition/Navigator - lower dash panel on passenger side.
* Excursion - lower dash panel on driver side.

The PCM is behind the glove box and has a big harness connector in the firewall that you access from the engine compartment.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Fig. 1 The calibration number will be needed to order such parts as a replacement PCM, various sensors, and almost any emission control component. Typically this number is attached to a label found on the driver's door or the door pillar

1. Remove the battery and the battery tray.
2. Loosen the connector retaining bolt and remove the PCM connector.
3. Remove the passenger side front door scuff plate.
4. Remove the passenger side kick panel.
5. Remove the PCM bracket clip.
6. Remove the PCM.
   

To install:

1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
2. Tighten the PCM connector retaining bolt to 36-44 inch lbs. (4-5 Nm).

The TCCM for a 99 Jimmy is behind the passenger, right side kick panel. This is the panel under and to the outboard right side of the glove box. If sitting in the seat and you swing your right foot to the right, you hit this panel. Good luck!

1) Take off the passenger side kickplate - pops off quite easily.
2) Take off plastic moulding covering the fuse box.. same as kick plate, be careful not to break the slim extension going up the door.
3) pop off the fuse box cover using the tabs on the sides - comes off easily, do not force too much.

I had a 99 with the same problem, and suggest you check under the passenger side front carpet. Remove the flat door kick plate, lift up the carpet on the front passenger side floor and you will see a large wiring harness running along the floor, wrapped in black tape. Water and salt gets into this harness and will rot out several wire splices that you will see. Look for wires that run from 2 wires down into one (under black tape.) These are spliced together, and rot out. There was several large gauge wires/splices(windows up and down) and I think 2 very thin wires/splices (lock/unlock) . Even if the wires look connected, give them a good tug, they will come apart and be green with corrosion. This is a very common problem and worth the effort to check out. Repairing these splices fixed both the power windows and locks at the same time. Good luck
