ABS, brake, trac control, service engine soon light came.

The abs, brake, trac control, service engine soon light came on today. I checked 15amp fuse under hood and it was fine. I replaced brakes both front and back 2 weeks ago and everything was fine till today. I seen in a similar post that the ABS sensor may be bad. How can I check myself without giving a GM dealership one of my arms and leg? The brakes appear to be working fine. I am not sure if the ABS is working or trac control. Is the ABS sensor something I can purchase and change my self. Is it located on each wheel, and would it be wise or cost effective to replace one or all of them.

The county is working on my road, and there is about a 6 inch difference in the road edge that we have to ride over. Its almost like hitting a speed bump. Would hitting that excessively hard jar the sensor and or turn the service engine soon light on?

Check the wiring harness, on both front wheels, it plugs into the wheel bearings, and runs along the lower control arm, sometimes it gets damaged

I'm sorry to say that you will need to see a dealer or repair shop so they scan your ABS for trouble codes first and then find your problem.

First check to see if all the wheel speed sensors are reading. If one fails, it will deactivate several of these systems.

The ABS lite, No Trac Lite and Service engine lite keep coming on

When the Service engine soon, ABS and TRAC lights are turned on at the same time the computer control units for the engine and the ABS/TRAC systems has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system and the ABS and Traction Control system (part of the ABS system). When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different or the car drive any different. There are about 200 possible faults that turn the Check Engine light on, the fault in your car is likely a part called the VSS sensor to know for sure what the problem is you must have the system tested; Kragen and Autozone parts stores do this testing for free

What do i do when the anti brake like has just come on. and what does it mean when the trac light is on?

ANY TIME ABS LIGHT OR TRAC LIGHT COMING ON THAT MEANS EITHER ONE IS NOT WORKING NOT GETTING NO OR ENOUGH POWER.CHECK ABS FUSE AND RELAYS. IF RELAY AND FUSE OKAY.MAKE SURE YOUR ALTERNATOR VOLTAGE OUT PUT AT BATTERY SHOULD BE 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS IF 11.0 VOLTS DUE TO VOLTAGE REGULATOR FAILURE. THAT WILL CAUSE ABS AND TRAC LIGHT TO COME ON.IF ALTERNATOR CHECKS OUT OKAY.TAKE VECHICLE TO GARAGE OR DEALERSHIP THEY HAVE TO SCAN THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM.

ABS light, Brake light, and trac control lights on no brake problems. have to turn off engine and restart to clesr lights 2001 windstar

You most likely have a problem with the ABS brake system. First, check your brake fluid level as many vehicles have a fluid level switch that monitors brake fluid level and if the level is low it can turn off the ABS and turn on all those lights.[ABS is part of the Trac control] If that is good then you may have a failing wheel speed sensor, wiring, or a problem with the ABS controller itself which would require having someone connecting to and reading the ABS service codes with a scan tool to identify what the system saw that caused it to turn itself off. Brakes are a very important safety item so you should get it repaired as soon as possible!

Warning light on are trac off, anti-lock, brakes, service engine

You need to have the abs system scanned for codes. You likely have a bad wheel speed sensor on one of wheels.

Service engin soon , Anti lock brake, & Trac control lights came on while driving 55 mph

CHECK ALTERNATOR OUTPUT.MAKE YOUR VOLTAGE OUT PUT IS 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS.IF NOT ALTERNATOR BAD IF ALTERNATOR GOOD THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO HOOK CAR TO DIAGNOSTIC TO CHECK THE ENGINE PCM CONTROLS AND ABS BRAKES AND TRAC.SYSTEM.REASON I SAID ALTERNATOR BECAUSE I SEEN ALTERNATOR GO BAD UNTIL IT OUTPUT WAS LOW CAUSING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT TO COME ON.

Abs, service engine light and trac off lights keep coming on

Hello. The ABS [anti-lock brake system], traction control and service engine soon light are all interconnected. The ABS and traction control each depend on sensitive sensors to send a signal to your car's computer that there is a problem. The problem unfortunately is that the sensors themselves are bad. If your brakes still pump themselves when you stop fast, for example, then your ABS system is still working but one of your sensors is sending a signal anyways.
To check everything out you can take your car to many auto parts stores, or most recently AAMCO transmission stores, where they will scan your computer for free. Once the scan is done you will know exactly why the service engine soon light is on.
In the meantime, you do not need to worry about your brakes because all the ABS system does is pump them for you. You can still pump them yourself, like folks did for years before ABS came along. Same is true with the traction control. As long as you do not drive wrecklessly you need not worry.
So to summarize, call around to auto parts stores, or AAMCO to get a free scan. Once you have those results you can decide on how to proceed.

Service engine soon/ABS/Trac lights are staying on

Have the ABS codes scanned. This will get you started in the right direction. Possibility is that one or more of the wheel speed sensors is not working or intermittent - could be wiring or connectors on these as well. Another possibility is the EBCM, Electronic Brake Control Module. I believe the EBCM will throw 1216 code in many cases. THese can be rebuilt online for about $150.00.
The more likely problem is the wheel speed sensors. THese are an integral part of the wheel hub. About $100.00 each for the part. About $250.00 each to have them replaced. They can be tested with an AC voltmeter by spinning the wheel. Also, they should read roughly 850 ohms resistance. The ABS codes will tell you which ones are not reporting.
