2013 300c sun shade stopped working... the sunshade button makes a little clicking sound when pressed but sunshade is stuck half open

Is there anything else to check before changing the motors ? Yeah , hook up a factory or some other type of professional scanner an check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes,also to see if the scanner will communicate with the modules. Changing batterys without a alternate power supply can cause modules to go to sleep permanently.

Power Sunroof System Components
The Power Sunroof and Sunshade System consists of the following components:
• Sunroof control module
• Sunshade control module
• Sunroof switch
• Sunshade switch
• Rail and track assembly upon which the sunroof and sunshade glass rides
• S/ROOF/SUNSHADE Fuse 30 A
• Body control module (BCM)

The Power Sunroof System will operate only with the ignition turned to the RUN or Accessory positions, this allows for retained accessory power (RAP) control of the sunroof and sunshade through the body control module (BCM). With the ignition in the run or accessory positions, the BCM supplies the sunroof and sunshade control modules with ignition voltage which allows sunroof and sunshade operation. Once the ignition switch is turned to OFF the sunroof will continue to operate until any door is opened or when the RAP timer reaches its shut-off limit. For a description and operation of the RAP operation, refer to Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Description and Operation.


Circuit/System Description
The sunroof and sunroof shade modules supply each of the switch signal circuits with a 12-volt reference. When a switch is pressed the signal circuit is pulled low signaling the sunroof or sunroof shade open or close request. The modules determine the motor direction based on inputs received from the sunroof switches. When the modules reverse the polarity of the applied voltage, the motors reverse direction. The sunroof shade module contains the logic for opening and closing the sunshade based on Serial Data from the sunroof control module. Ignition voltage is supplied to the sunroof and sunroof shade modules by the BCM. B+ is applied to the sunroof and sunroof shade modules via the S/ROOF fuse.
The sunroof shade module contains the logic for opening and closing the sunshade based on Serial Data from the sunroof control module. The sunroof shade module internally applies voltage and ground to the appropriate circuits of the reversible sunshade motor in order to move the sunshade panel to the open or closed positions.

you may have to strip out the roof lining to gain access to the sunroof component if you cant pull the sun visor free , dont keep pressing the power button as could at the least blow the fuse , at worst burn out the motor

make sure the glass is closed, kneel on the drivers seat facing the rear of the car. Grab the sunshade with one hand on each side then pull the passenger side more than the drivers side, basically twisting the shade from side to side as you tug it firmly forward. Worked for mine hope it works for yours.

there is a gear on the motor they do wear out. try to give it a hand a few times if it makes a crunching sound wile you giving it a hand the the gear is warn out.

I have same issue, the shade work with the touch screen from radio but the rear button on the back between the heated seat button dont work. please help if you know, i have a 2013 300s v6.

Just got mine closed on 2001 expedition sunroof. After removing all Phillips and hex head screws and clips and unplugging the side and rear lights the headliner came right out. Yes it takes a bit of time but once clear I was able to take a hex head to the motor and begin to close it a bit and then tried it with the button and it closed. After trying it several times to make sure it was working I put everything back up and although now short one JC bar screw it is finished. I read that sometimes the motor goes back too far and locks itself out from going forward. Good luck and it is a wee bit cheaper than going to a dealership and pay someone to do it and pay their overhead/profits.

make it go back to the open position,look down the side of the tracks in the roof that the sun shade slides in and you will probable find the guides for the sunshade are jamming up the tracks. only way to replace them<4 one in each corner> is to remove the glass section and then close sunshade that will give access to the 4 guides which are available from dealer as a kit

start the vehicle.

push the center of the sunroof button (make sure its the center and not the forward or aft toggle) and hold it up. you'll have to hold it up for the entire time while it initializes.

after about 4 seconds the roof/shade will start to move. keep holding it until it goes through its entire process.

it will open/close the sunshade, tilt & close the roof and open and close the roof.

if this doesn't work, it may have other issues with the roof.
