SOURCE: 94 honda accord hard to shift from park

You seem to have two (2) separate problems one may be a BAD brake light switch this switch is mounted at the top of BRAKE pedal and control the locking mechanism on gear shifter(safety component-for example if a kid is sitting in seat with vehicle running he/she will NOT be able to put vehicle in gear without stepping on brake). The other problem is a BAD shifter cable-this cable moves the selector in the transmission when you move shift knob. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA

SOURCE: 96 honda accord ex transmission shift problem

the first common possibilty would be to check fluid level, if the fluid level is good, I would recommend changing the transaxle fluid and filter. if this does not correct the issue, a professional transmission repair person will need to diagnose for you, good luck!

check your shift linkages if the bushing is worn out you may have problems shifting or it could be a bad transmission

SOURCE: 1999 Honda Accord EX won't shift out of park. It

If you press the Break pedal and the shift button does not engage, Your Solenoid did not activate to release it out of park. either the: solenoid is out - Bent levers - Solenoid harness disconnected - Break activation wire may be damaged. this piece is easy to replace as it sits on the right side (passanger side) of the shift lever. remove center console cover to access the soleniod which is held on by two 10mm nuts. and a C- clamp

2000 Honda Accord 2.3 VTec engine, 4 cylinder, 5 speed stuck in reverse?

USA spec car in USA? not told
2.3L inline 4 banger.DOHC +VVT cam. 5sp, M/T
nor real name of the box told.
Vtec is honda name for VVT, valve variable timing, and is not a transmission part at all so is off topic if we want to do 1 at a time.
a wise idea that, leaks are your problem.as all are.
your post seem clueless, here, find a real shop and get it fixed?
vtech bad causes huge engine power loss, for sure stuck in idle mode. so lets end that here.
and talk the box, what box 5 speed is it
not told at all
honda says 5speed is a manual transmission M/T
the silly cable to it is bad.
end story, endless.
2 cables clutch release snapped i gear. makes it hard to shift if you do not move car bay hand to N./ (a trick to lean 2 man job) as all tow truck drivers know for 100 years.
shift cable bad. (or levers to it)
see this first photo , one can drop off links to that #8 part and shift the box by hand, sure can and if can the box end is good .
box means transmission box in whole.,, mech jargon.
all this is pure mechanics 101 problem shifting any M/T is.
photo 2 is lever #2 id and cable set 6
one if bad, looking only finds it as is 100% pure mechanical parts.
end to end. no brains no CPU or TCM brains here, just real gears and levers and flex steel cables that love to fail not lubed regular.

My 1998 Pontiac sunfire car wont shift out of nuetrel

Does the clutch pedal go to the floor? If not the clutch is not the problem and the transmission or transmission linkage is, inspect all components for loose or damaged components.

My car wont shift out of 2nd gear.the shifting handle is sloppy and the clutch is working fine

if the clutch really is working, (lever at bell moves 3/4")
by fine, my guess, is you can take off from dead stop in2nd, right>?
then its a bad shifter. tip.
or linkage (end tranny extension housing)
or transmission actual core.(shift rails, or forks) or worse.
you do know ,that you can disconnect the linkage and test tranny.
by hand,
key off
leakage off
shift to neutral (read the FSM or alldata.com) for how. under M/T sections.
then key on start engine, clutch depressed, the lift pedel
car moves its stuck in 2nd, of not bad linkage.
can do all gears that way, use 2 people and do not stand infront of car doing test.
or put the front wheels up on stands. but do not get near them.
while engine is running.
btw some shifters have plastic parts that go bad in the shifter tip.

or ,
jack up car in front, can you now shift car in to neutral or any gear?
linkage tests.
remove shifter housing and below see the shifter, H pattern
sifter box mechanism.
see that. you can shift that by hand with any small wrench or
large screwdriver, if the works the parts on the end of the shifter
handle main shaft tip are bad.

5 speed trans 96 tacoma jumping out of gear 1st through 4th gears when you let off the gas

Hi there,

This commonly occurs when either the Shift Linkage is faulty (or simiply needs adjustment), Shifter Fork is loose, or there is excessive movement of the Input Shaft.

Adjusting the shift linkage would be your first task. If this doesn't correct the problem, then you will need to investigate the other 2 components as suggested above.

Cheers,

Car wont shift into gear. Gear shift moves but gears don't

It sounds like the lever from the gear shifter has come loose. I would first look at the shifter from under the car. You can also remove the boot (or console) from inside the car and check the linlage. Most linkage is held on by a small clip or cotter pin and somethime they don't stay in place anad the linkage slides off the arm..

1996 NISSAN MAXIMA, IT IS AN AUTOMATIC, WHEN I PUSH IN THE CLUTCH IT STILL CATCHS BUT THE GEAR SHIFT DOES NOT AT ALL. I DON'T EVEN NEED TO PUSH IN THE CLUTCH TO MOVE IT. WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE?

I believe you mean it is a manual tranny. I believe the shift fork in the tranny is messed up or the linkage from the shifter to tranny is diconnected. In order to check the linkage pull the car up on ramps and lock the rear brakes. Find the shifter under the car and follow the linkages to the tranny. The shift fork will have to be checked at the shop.
