SOURCE: key stuck in ignition of Trailblazer.

There is a small 1/4'' oblong cover plate on the underside of the stearing column. Pop this out and there is a button you push in ( like the Crysler key relase) and this will allow you to remove the key.

SOURCE: ignition switch on a 2002 chevy trailblazer

under the steering column, there are three or four little holes in the plastic covering. If you look inside, one of them (the one on the right side toward the dash) there is a brass pin inside. This is the pin to release the key. As far as the key not turning, I have had the same problem. The first time I replaced the ignition switch and that solved the problem. However, this makes no sense because the ignition switch has nothing to do with the tumbler being locked. GMC thinks that my anti theft system, which is inside the ignition cylinder is the problem. By removing the ignition switch, it reset the pass lock anti-theft system and temporarily fixed the problem. So, try removing the ignition switch and then plugging it back in. If that doesn't work, your in the same boat as I am, and we may both need new ignition cylinders.

Do you know if the plugs were changed, a bad or broken plug will also cause rough idle and slow acceleration?

I need to know which direction the fan bolt turns to get it off a 2002 trailblazer with a 4.2 vortec egine

It is probably left-hand threads, meaning turning it clockwise will loosen it. This may sound silly but, if you can see any of the threads from straight above....if threads run "downhill" from left to right its left hand threads, if threads run "downhill" from right to left its right hand threads. The bolt or nut on fan clutches are tough to loosen any way. You can't hurt it easily. You might try smacking the end of the wrench with a mallet. Hope this is clear as mud!!

Air cond on 2002 trailblazer

This has been a regular problem on the 4.2 vortec motor. Usually the Throttle Body has to be cleaned. Even with as many as 30K miles. Easy process.. When you do this you must unhook the neg battery cable to reset the PCM. They make a throttle body cleaner (different than Carb/choke cleaner). You can get it at any parts outlet. Trailvoy.com has a article describing the whole process step by step. Takes about 30 minutes. Do a search in the article section under throttle body cleaning
