I have a 2014 Kia Forte and last Saturday had a little trouble getting it to start. I went to War-mart to have the battery tested and they said it was 480 and that the battery was good. They told me to go to Autozone and have the starter and alternator checked. I took it there and they said the alternator was good, but couldn't test the starter because the battery was only at 49%. I went to a mechanic and he checked the car and couldn't find any problems and said the battery was good and at 489 cca. I went back to Wall-mart just for a re-check and the print out said 489 cca battery good-needs recharge. Do I need to have it recharged if it is good and has 489 cca? I have to make a trip and don't want to break down. Thank you
Wal mart & Auto Zone are great places BUT they are not automotive specialists. U had it ckd by a tech w specialized equipment & he approved it. How has it been starting since? If its been starting well, in my opinion "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but if it give u a clearer mind have it charged. Getting back to your orig question, according to those readings the battery is passable. Charge it to clear your head.
Testimonial: "Thank you for your answer. It helped a lot. I went to another place and they said the battery was 503 cya. They said the hand held battery testers that Was-Mart and Autozone use are not as accurate as the larger testers. The battery was fine."
