SOURCE: TEMPUTURE SENSOR BLEW OUT
I worked for a Ford dealer for 20 years, it is not a common problem, but it does happen, the recall was for coolant leaks at the molding seams of the manifold, I did almost all the manifolds that came through the door on the Mercure and Ford models that used a 4.6L V8. Your manifold can be repaired.
SOURCE: siezed exhaust manifold bolts
Get brake fluid or transmission fuild on them. Let it set for up to an hour...try to break them loose...put more fluid on it...tighten them wait about ten minutes...break them loose....this works...just don't start the vehicle and cook off the fluid.
SOURCE: location of the bank 1 sensor 2 O2 sensor on a 2001 ford escape
B1 means the sensor is located on the same bank of the engine that has the #1 cylinder. B2 is located on the opposite bank.
S1 means the sensor is located BEFORE the catalytic converter
S2 means the sensor is located AFTER the catalytic converter
You didn't say which engine you have, so I've included the diagrams of both 4 cyl and 6 cyl so you can see the banks

SOURCE: Trying to find a 19mm deep socket to remove CHT sensor on a 06 Ford Escape 2.3l
You need to make a tool out of a deep well socket. Using a cut-off wheel, cut a groove down the socket that allows the wire to exit the socket. Break it free, then you will be able to turn it by hand until it is removed.
Testimonial: "no wire, but I will try your idea ....Thanks"
