SOURCE: Mr2 2004 knock sensor is lighting the engine management light

Try checking your O2 sensors if you have one that isnot working all the time you will get that reading. If you don't have a computer readout machine take it to an auto zone or another auto parts place they will run the diagnostic tool on your car and tell you what it is as it will give you a code

Ringing under hard accel between 3600-4200rpms on 1986 MR2???

It could be engine detonation or knock. If so it is terribly damaging to the engine and must be totally avoided. Try using premium unleaded petrol for a trial, Or add some "ignition control additive" or ad some Methyl Benzene to the fuel. The anti knock sensor should control this but not all cars had these, or yours may have failed.

How complicated is it to replace the head gasket on a 1986 mr2?

This is complicated. You might need to drive to the garage.

If you want a detailed diagram you might need to come on to premium payment mode.

Cheers.

1986 jetta oil pump location and replacement/knock sensor

oil pump is in the oil pan and if you have no or low oil pressure replace pump before doing anything with knock sensor. knock sensor is more or less a microphone and listens for spark knock but will set codes for any knocking or tapping noise which is commonly heard if oil pump is malfunctioning

Having trouble with linkage, hard to get in gear 1986 toyota MR2

Check the bushings at the motor for the shift cables, worn or binding. The MR2 club has a link to a company who makes brass replacement bushings.
