That is a sensor that talks to the ignition antitheft. It is normal.

Not likely a "short," but more likely a bad ground. Check all of your ground wires and connections underneath the dash, and clean all chassis connections that show signs of rust or corrosion with penetrating oil.

Remove gauge cluster from 1994 eagle vision

I do not think that this is your problem ,if you smelled some wires burning you had a short under the dash or something , I very rarelly seen clusters go bad find your short first , this may also be why your lights are not working right either

Dashpanel lights are out on my 1998 nissan frontier

Sound like a electrical problem or bad harnesses connections; you will need to take off instrument cluster in order to check it. Also, check ground connections.

Hope helps.

I have a 1987 Dodge Ram 50 2.0L 2WD Carb. Truck just hit 200,000miles and the Gas & Temp gauge stopped working. Tired to look for a fuse to see if there was one, no luck. Unplugged the connectors on...

Hi,
Check your fuses an also b sure the line going to each is securely connected to the proper outlet/connector. Did you hit a bump or something to pull the wires lose?
Sounds like you will need to check each fuse as well. Try turning the engine on - pull off the wire to the temperature sending unit and ground it to the engine - see if the gauge moves then. This can give you a good clue.

Hello, Im a US Marine and dont know alot about automotive but Im not completly numb... My father in-laws 2003 4x4 dodge pick has been blowing fuse #18 which when blown or removed the dash lights go out......

That fuse also supplies illumination to the radio, hvac controller, cup holder and cigarette tray. I think the best thing to do is start unplugging each one of these until the fuse stops blowing. Then plug the last think in that you unplugged to make sure that makes the fuse blow. If you suspect the instrument cluster start with that first.

I got a 1993 chevy cavalier and my dash board lights want come on i have replace two new switches and replace all fuses and bulb in the dash and still want come so what could be my prooblem

The circuit in the dash board cluster itself is probably bad.

Sad to say only GM dealer can order a new one or have your old one repaired.

Dash gauges (i.e. speedometer, etc.) do not work

sounds like the cluster has shorted out, replacement of the cluster is your only option. don't forget to check all your fuses

I have a 1993 roadmaster. my speedometer and tachometer both stopped working at the same time. every now and then they'll come back on for a short period.

you have a short somewhere between the ECM and the dash cluster. most likely the connectors to the dash cluster have backed out. Take the mounting screws out and remove the cluster from the dash. Check that the connector is completely seated on the prongs in the back. You may want to clean the prongs off with a dielectric cleaner. Mount clusters but only put one screw back in. Test drive and see if problem reoccurs. If not the prob is fixed. If it doesn't fix it, get w/ a dealer and replace the wiring harness between the ECM and dash cluster. Good luck

'02 Dodge Ram 1500 quad with dead dash

This is likely a short in the power distribution block located on your stearing column. There was a recall for this problem. Contact the dealer for information.
