Would like to change fuel filter in 2013 Mercedez sprinter van without replacing the sensor everytime to save money?

YOU WILL NEED A SCAN TOOL TO PLUG IN TO OBD2 TO FIND THIS.

Shouldn't have to remove much to get at them. Does the glow plug lamp flash after the engine has started. I'm not sold on it being a glow plug issue, these engines start without them down to well below freezing without any real trouble, if it IS this its more likely to be a wiring issues rather than sudden failure of 4 glow plugs. Leak off pipes on the low pressure side, or an injection problem is more likely.

Change the fuel filter.

Clean mass air flow sensor pins, this should fix it.

MAKE SURE GLOW PLUGS ARE GETTING VOLTAGE.COULD BE PREGLOW RELAY.ANOTHER POSSIBILITY WOULD BE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR AT BACK END OF FUEL RAIL.

2002 sprinter, code # P2240 = abs steering angle sensor can message implausible, this can be due to a bad steering angle sensor or can bus circuit open. you will need to do some testing and a scan tool would be needed to see sensor readings. take a look at the connector and the wiring,CAN is a controller area network, this is the computer system, the way it communicates.

I have trouble starting my 313 cdi van. Its a 2003 model. When I spray ether into the air filter, it starts. I know the glow plugs need replacing, but even on warm days it wont start. Any ideas?

Given the age of the vehicle, I would definitely have the in-line filter changed. As per your increase in the temp, you could have a bad thermostat and it could be stuck wide open or worse, could be frozen closed. I would also have the temperature sensor for the radiator replaced. It could be causing your issue. If you've had the A\C recharged recently, you could have a stopped up condenser\evaporator.

Bottom line is your vehicle is 17 years old and I would suspect a bad sensor before trying to put a whole bunch of money into it. This would mean you would have to either have it serviced or, if you are able to do the work yourself, buy the part and replace it.

Hi have a 411 cdi Merc Sprinter, when rev past 3000 engine cuts out, will start again no problem.
