If the horn isn't working have you checked the fuse for the horn? You need to check fuse 13, (20A) in the engine bay fuse box. I've added a link to a website for information on what fuse is where. Is it the sounder on the front of the vehicle you want to change or the button inside the vehicle? Changing the actual sounder is easy, the problem is often getting to it. The sounder is positioned in the right corner of the front bumper. To replace the sounder you will need to SAFELY jack up the vehicle and support it on a jack stand. Remove the front right wheel. Then remove the wheel arch liner. There is a pair of horns bolted to the frame each with a 12mm bolt. Remove the bolt and the wiring block connector for each horn and lift them out. Refit the new horns and block connectors. Test the horns work. Refit the wheel arch liner and the wheel. Lower the vehicle back onto the ground.
What exactly is wrong with it? Start with the basics. Check the fuse. I think on that model the horn and hazard lights were on the same fuse so test your hazard lights are working. Check the wiring and connections are clean and shiny at the horn sounder itself. If you know how to use a multimeter you can check for signal from the switch with a helper pushing the horn button.
Many things like that can be programmed by the dealerships computer.. For instance, when I first got my 2005 Lexus ES330 (your vehicle) and went for my first service. I said its funny that when you press the fob to open the door, only the driver's door opens and then you have to open the passenger door from the inside arm-rest switch. The technician said we can program it to open all the doors if you want? I said, well it seems a better idea to do so. He went on to tell me it was for security reasons, but they could do it. Then he said "You know if you press the unlock button twice, all the doors unlock"?
Me, "what"! Problem solved.
Horns are very annoying, my neighbor has an after market alarm that sounds his horn 3 times when he sets it and twice when he turns it off. He has a problem with the sensor on the sliding door of his van, so he slams the door a few times between each set of three horn blasts.
The Horn Sounder is usually located in one of two common locations. Either between the radiator and the front grille OR tucked up in the front corner of the vehicle, between the front wheel and the bumper. Check both sides as it could be hidden in a hard to get to location.
power sounder battery has a fault, first sign its faulty is randomly going off, were the sounder is you need to remove it, and replace it, or you can try to replace the battery inside, you can remove it and alarm will revert to a horn on some models that have a horn fitted but the wiring is in there for a horn to be fitted.
you have a drain on the battery. this can be a number of things alarm immobilizer or the power sounder. the power sounder has its own battery and over time the battery will become damaged etc. this would then start using the battery on the vehicle at a higher rate than it would normally need, this can cause the battery to be damaged theater.
Siren.
1) The siren is located behind the right - hand side luggage compartment side trim panel on some models, and behind the front bumper on others. Remove the panel or bumper.
3) Undo the 2 retaining bolts, disconnect the wiring plug and remove the siren.
The horn is usually located in the front of the car, below the radiator, possibly hidden by a bumper, but it is definitely up front where it can be the most effective. There is usually a horn relay in the system as a horn draws a pretty heavy current. You might want to check that too.
