Check main power feed for the PCM - engine computer . Find free wiring diagrams an electrical distribution charts .At http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html also check the PCM power relay , powers up the engine computer . Relays do go bad . The PCM power relay is located in the under hood fuse / relay box an it is # K163 .

It's a valve not a sensor.
Where? it depends what engine do you have 4 cyl 6 cyl?
How do you know the EGR valve could be bad? check engine light on? OBD code? diagnostic made?

I have a 1998 Ford contour SVT and I pulled it into the garage last night and it will not start now. Any ideas??

the most probable cause is that the electric fuel pump has failed, to confirm this get a can of spray starting fluid and spray some into the air intake hose of the engine, if it starts u need a new fuel pump.

The most common failed start is ignition spark, usually forgot to hook it up, this is controlled by the ignition module and the crank sensor, second most common is fuel. Has your mechanic fixed it yet? if not check the three basics- air-fuel-fire, one them is missing.

Check fuse #14 light blue,,,beside the battery in the fuse box. Also check the reset button to the left of the pedals on the side wall. Otherwise check for power to the fuel pump. The pump may be faulty?

Starting the car

If it is a 4cyl, check the timming belt. I dont know how many miles are on yours. If over 100k miles, id purchase a timming belt and open her up and check it out. A jumped belt will make a engine rotate with a drag due to compression and valve timming. Good luck...98contourSVT
