For example of a question that lacks vital information...simply look at your own question. You state it periodically won't start and you charged the battery. That's it. No info on year, if a check engine light is on, circumstances surrounding when it won't start, why you thought the battery needed charging, if any parts have been replaced to fix the problem, etc. This necessitates anyone trying to answer to guess and that leads to waste of time and money. Sorry to be so brutal but 95% of the questions asked on fixya lack basic details.

Don't call out people by name, if you have a problem, talk to Jeff. I haven't seen all his posts, the ones I have seen, I thought he gave out good info. I don't know him personally.
If he is anything like me, he is just trying to help and doesn't make a dime trying to answer questions.
I've had people grip about some of my answers and in some situations, they were correct, but, we are just trying to help. My answers are not always the best.
Please, don't get mad at me for posting.

People who answer questions on fixya site are well aware of the reasons that people come here to ask questions
WE are also well aware that the people who ask the questions firmly believe that a reset button fixes the problem, that they have the ability to know how to fix a tv with out any training, how to fix a car by replacing everything and generally do not use common sense when approaching a problem
The best place to start is to talk with a repair man to get a diagnosis of the problem first, have the fault codes read first, or simply step back and think what about the problem may be
May answers are close , some are spot on and others are looking outside the square and give a direction to the answer
We all say go to a repair shop as that is the first place to go and it generally doesn't cost to simply ask a question and if it does then that is not a place to go for repairs
Remember, if you bother to read associated answers to questions , you will see that in most cases , people who answers need a crystal ball, because the questions are --simply put--rather poorly asked so are directed to a repair shop

1999 Lincoln Continental. Where is the door ajar switch location please?

Jeff Armer Mar 18, 2024
Part of the door latch, all doors

Jeff Armer is our Fixya vehicle electronics specialist, and of course is 100% correct.

The electrical door jamb switch is located on the latch on the inside of the door. You may be able to get it to work if you spray the latch in the door with WD40 and slam the door a few times, or work the latch open and closed using a screwdriver to trip the latch and open using the door handle.

How do I send a question to Jeff Armer when I can't find an answer from him

You are referring to me James, and yet you are not taking my advice, firstly by posting follow-up questions as a new question, and I told you how to contact Jeff, just click Comment UNDER what he wrote to you. And this NEW post should be UNDER what I wrote to you by clicking COMMENT under it.

Posting an answer as a follow-up doesn't work on Fixya because posts are not threaded by User. This question has no context to any previous questions and answers.

The correct way is to click COMMENT under the answer of the person you wish to reply to, in this case our Expert, Steve Pack.

Here is that post again, this is where you should be.

https://www.fixya.com/cars/t29933665-heated_seats_03_navigator

And this is your question where Jeff Armer replied. Click Comment under his answer.

https://www.fixya.com/cars/t29932445-driver_side_power_seat_2003_navigator

Here is your full posting history. You get to it by clicking your name on the upper right of the page to the left of where it shows 'Ask a Question'.

https://www.fixya.com/users/james-i-york

This website only works if you use it correctly. I also told you this is the reason to do it the right way

One major benefit of doing it the right way is that Steve/Jeff would get a Notification that someone had replied and needed further help. Doing it your way, it would be pure luck if he saw it. I came across a post made in a similar way referring to me by name and it was made over a year previously!!

    and it's p2308 not po2308

  • Jeff Armer Mar 25, 2023
A P2308 code is usually defined as "Ignition Coil 'C' Secondary Circuit." This is a generic powertrain code that applies to select modern vehicles that have OBD-II. Your vehicle's powertrain control module (PCM) can store a P2308 if it detects an abnormal voltage condition in the ignition coil's secondary circuit designated with the ...

injector pressure sensor ???? It doesn't have anything like that, it has a fuel pressure regulator - vacuum operated . Hook up a scan tool and check for codes or take it to a qualified repair shop. Quit trying to play auto mechanic.

  • Aug 11, 2022
  • P0001 ? no such code for 05 Ford Expedition . This not a Ford code, take it to a qualified repair shop that has a proper scan tool, not a cheap code reader .

  • Jeff Armer Aug 11, 2022
Vehicle does not use fuel regulator, has FPDM - fuel pump driver module and a fuel rail pressure sensor to control fuel flow . The PCM - engine computer uses input info from fuel rail pressure sensor to know what duty cycle info to send to the FPDM - to command fuel pump on time. Suggest you view video

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njbDB3xl...

Also be aware that the location of the FPDM is under the vehicle in the back mounted on the frame rail or above the spare tire on axle housing and they corrode and short out.
Thanks Jeff.

This is regarding my 2011 Cadillac CTS4. While Driving yesterday my ABS light and Traction Control lights came on.

If we put the answer down here, it becomes SOLVED: Thanks Jeff, good to see you around.

  • Jeff Armer Aug 02, 2021
  • How you see what is wrong is by hooking up a scan tool an checking for stored DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . If the lights are on codes are stored pointing in the right diagnostic procedure .
