How can you remove a leaf or 2 to lower the rear. My 2001 Sierra 2wd, SLE has 116k miles and runs great. Wanted to change stance with front a little higher than rear but can't afford lift kit...and the...

removing leaf springs is not recommended as it lowers the stability and load carrying capabilities
to do what you want you have the spring camber reset to flatter measurements
Camber is the distance from the spring eyes to the center bolt measurement when the springs are out of the vehicle
resetting the springs to reduce that measurement will do what you want
However it is pointed out that while it makes the vehicle look cool it creates more problems than it is worth , in steering geometry, tire wear , braking stability , handling stability and general driving comfort and in many cases will make the vehicle ******* on the road

1996 ford 2wd ranger leaf spring hangers

what we do is grind off the rivot head on the hangers and remove them then with the new hangers/hanger kits you get new bolts that are of the proper strength and install the new assembly.

My rear leaf springs have rusted off the frame in the rear, is there anyway to fix? The part that is rusted off is where the leaf spring connects to the frame.

a 10 year old car with a rusted frame? i would call ford and complain, but look in the yellow pages under welders, and see if one of them can fabricate you a piece and weld it on, so you can re-attach the leaf springs

Own 1991 jeep yj. put 4" lift leaf springs on front and rear and cant fit the track bar and sway bar on, need help

ONE OF TWO THINGS ARE WRONG. EITHER THE TRACK AND SWAY BARS WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED ALSO OR YOU WILL HAVE TO CHECK AND SEE IF THEY MAKE MOD KITS FOR THE BARS TO FIT. ANY TIME YOU RAISE A VEHICAL THAT MUCH OTHER PARTS MOVE OUT OF RANGE FOR THE ORIGINAL PARTS TO LINE UP SO THEY MAKE MONEY BY MAKING MOD KITS TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. MORE THEN LIKLEY THEY MAKE A BOLT KIT WHERE THE BOLT ARE LONGER SO THEY WILL REACH THE AREA WHERE YOU NEED TO BOLT TOO

Leaf spring popped out just one on the right rear

The leaf must of snapped. The only reason they will pop out is because the U bolts are lose.Replace the leafspring. And tighten U bolts to correct torque.

Can anyone give me some instructions to add a leaf spring kit to my 2002 4X4 V6 Ext.Cab Tacoma?

This should be pretty close for you since most add a spring(s) are pretty much the same.

Note: Check U-Bolt length prior to disassembly, Longer U-Bolts may be required.
1. Park the vehicle on flat level ground. Set the emergency brake and block the tires.
2. Raise the vehicle so that the tires slightly touch the ground. Support the frame rails using jack
stands.
3. Remove the U-Bolts from one side only. Remove the spring eye bolts and remove the leaf spring
from the vehicle.
4. Place 2 C-Clamps around the leaf spring as shown in Photo #1. Tighten C-Clamps against the
leaf spring.
5. With C-Clamps tightened onto leaf spring, remove the center tie bolt using a pair of vice grips to
hold the head of the bolt. “Slowly” remove the C-Clamps to release the spring tension.
6. Note the location of the tie bolt hole in the add-a-leaf. If the hole is not centered, measure the factory
spring to determine the long end and short end. Be sure to install the add-a-leaf with the
long end towards the long end of the leaf spring. Install the new add-a-leaf onto the “bottom” of
new leaf spring. If installing more than one leaf per side, install the longest first, then the shortest.
7. Use a screw driver to line up the tie bolt hole in the leaves. It is recommended to leave the screwdriver
in to help keep the leaves aligned as you tighten the C-Clamps. Tighten until there is
enough space to install the new tie bolt. With tie bolt installed, tighten the nut by hand. Then continue
to tighten the C-Clamps. Repeat this process until leaves are pulled together. See diagram
below. DO NOT USE THE TIE BOLT TO PULL THE LEAVES TOGETHER. THIS CAN RESULT
IN AN EXPLOSIVE DISASSEMBLY AND POSSIBLE INJURY!
8. Tighten the center tie bolt to torque specifications provided.
9. Reinstall leaf spring into the vehicle. Install U-bolts. Repeat this process on the opposite side.
Torque Specifications:
3/8” Tie Bolt = 17 Ft. Lbs.
7/16” Tie Bolt = 27 Ft. Lbs.
1/2” Tie Bolt = 41 Ft. Lbs.

91 Trooper leaf springs

ok what you have is just a multi leaf leaf spring. in the middle of the leaf where the axle should be a bolt that holds them together. you need to check the U bolts that hold the axle to the spring. there has to be a reason it moved . check the leaf spring for a broken leaf. i would recomend getting new Ubolts. and when you put it back together make sure you use the bolt that holds the leaves together as the center .
if ya need more help just let me know
if ya could snap a pic if you are having problems and send it i might be able to be more of a help.
