Black-ground, Yellow-battery, Red-switched (ignition), blue-pwr antenna, amplifier remote power, white-left front, grey-right front, green-left rear, purple-right rear. On the speaker wires, the one with the black stripe is ground. Also, I may have got the rear speakers backward, check before permanant mounting.

SOURCE: Want to install a CB

  • Hi, I can help.

  • A regular 40 channel CB radio uses no more that 4 amps. On the console you have an accessory outlet that will allow 15-20 amps which is far more than necessary to run your CB. You can get a nice 12 Volt cigarette lighter DC plug that will work just fine under these conditions as well. This is what I do in my blazer and I run an 80watt 2 meter mobile with no problem. Don't confuse the accessory outlet with the cigarette lighter as they are different on your vehicle. Run the positive to positive and negative to negative. When your done you can unplug it.

  • If you want to run the CB direct to the battery you just need to get some nice copper braided 12 gauge wire in black and red to make no mistake on the power and ground. I recommend crimping a gold plated metal "O" ring on the battery end of the them wire and then you have to run them wire through the firewall. (make sure to run the wires BEFORE you connect them to the battery.) Run the wires all the way to the radio and hook positive to positive and negative to negative.

  • I don't know what CB your trying to run but if it has 3 pins on the back of it then this is a standard 3 pin power cord. Cobra, Uniden and a few other CB's use the same power cord (interchangeable.) Also only two of the three pins are even used (power and ground.)

  • It's pretty simple really. No diagrams needed really.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here and I will respond to you.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

Regards, Tony
