It take myself, a Nissan technician about 45 minutes to do. That's after doing them about 10 or so times.
They require patience, locking 6" extension if you have one. A flex head spark plug socket and a decent ratchet.

It's has a timing belt, also it's an interference engine, if belt goes bad it will bent valve's .

I was told by a loca mechanic that Nissa has had problems with electrical grounding for some time. Ii had a 1997 Altima that I intened to drive forever but finally gave up at (only) 90,000 miles. It went through 4 alternators in three years. Also a corroded radiator. The mechanic said Nissan has used the engine block as a ground, since cards today don't have the old-fashioned frame rails. Any loosening or other disturbance to that engine block ground will cause electriclaly-charged coolant to flow throughout the system: definition of elctrolysis. I don't if this applies to 2000-and-beyond vehicles, but it did in the 90s. Elsewhere in this section someone posted a ground solution (Maxima) that looks good. These are great vehicles, but if you have one (any make) with a persistent electrical glitch it can be one of the most frustrating and costly problems to fix.

I had the same thing but it was my sparkplug wire was arching on the valve covers. my rmps would drop at idle so i look at the engine at night time and could visualy see the electrical arch real easy ,and the computer on your car reads the arch as a misfire, which it is, but the cause isnt your knock sensor just one cylinder is not having a fuel mixture ignition due to the spark not conducting throught the plug and ignighting the mixture.hence ur miss fire. Also ur can hear it, it kind sounds like a snaping noise once you have poped the hood that helped me find where it was at.

it is a belt....recommended replacement interval is 105,000...but its rubber and it is8 yrs.old might be time to consider it.
