It means the automatic traction control is off. I found out sometimes you need to turn this off if you are stuck so you can spin the wheels to get out.
Time to take it to a reliable repair shop for a diagnostic check. A scan tool must be used to retrieve codes that the Stabilitrak system is setting. That is the starting point for diagnosing the problem. And remember- the scan tool doesn't tell the technician what part to replace, it gives the technician an indication of where to look for the malfunction.
Do you mean 2006 GMC Envoy? Top left- car with squiggly tire tracks and a wrench- that means something is wrong with your Stabilitrak (traction control) system. Top right- triangle around the car with squiggly tire tracks- this light comes on when the light on the top left comes on. It also means something is wrong with the Stabilitrak system. Bottom left- Antilock Brake System warning light- This means there is a fault in the antilock brake system. Considering that the stabilitrak control is part of the antilock brake system, it looks like there may be a common problem affecting both systems. You need to use a scan tool to access the chassis control system and read the diagnostic codes. There are definitely Diagnostic Trouble Codes stored when these lights are on. The code does not tell you what part to replace, but rather gives you a direction to go in diagnosing the cause of the problem.
Hello....
The
stabilitrak system is controlled by the abs module. Its job is to maintain
vehicle stability in situations where you may normally lose control by
activating the abs system and/or changing the valving in the shock absorbers.
When the message is displayed there is a problem in the system, could be an
issue with a sensor or wiring. There are a couple of common problems with the
system that require reprogramming the engine control module and the abs module.
This must be performed at the dealer. The only way to know exactly what the
issue is would be to have the abs computer scanned for trouble
codes. GM issued a couple of tech bulletins in regards to owners having this problem. I hope this helps.
{: ) If you ever see the SERVICE STABILITRAK message, it means there may be a problem with your StabiliTrak® system. If you see this message, try to reset the system by performing the following: stop; turn off the engine; then start the engine again. If the SERVICE STABILITRAK message still comes on, it means there is a problem. You should see your GM dealer for service. The vehicle is safe to drive, however, you do not have the benefit of StabiliTrak®, so reduce your speed and drive accordingly. Press the select button to acknowledge this message and clear it from the DIC display
There is a malfunction in the StabiliTrak system. The only fix is to take it to the dealer. They will more than likely pull a diagnostic trouble code {DTC c0196} and reprogram the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module).
This is common problem with 2006-2007 Buick Rainier 2006-2009 Chevy Trailblazer 2006-2009 GMC Envoy 2006-2009 Saab 9- 7X 2006-2009 Isuzu Ascender
Diagnosing and reprogramming is a simple procedure, and most dealers won't charge you to do this service.
