THIS COULD BE SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS A LOOSE GAS CAP. TAKE IT TO A PARTS STORE WHERE THEY WILL CHECK THE CODES FOR FREE. I WOULD CALL THEM TO CONFIRM FIRST. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE MECHANIC DIDN'T DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM CORRECTLY. HOPE THIS HELPS. GOOD LUCK

they do leak kits in auto parts stores. if it's not that bad it should work. other wise, est. $200 gas tank, 3hours labor.

please be more specific here ,is it because its low on gas ,these VWs do not go wrong they are vurs sprung durch technic whatever that means on the advert but they are good cars and i think you are being led a dance by the dealer ,Now on all vehicles using R134 gas they tend to loose a bit of gas after a couple of years as this gas is corrosive to the seals ,now i expect to regas a vehicle every 2/3 years and every year when its older so take it to a back street professional cowboy and get them to add a tin of leak stopper 18euros and regas the system with 700grms of gas cost for gas alone about 17 euros as this gas has shot up in price big time ,plus the labour charge and i will lay you a pound to penny it will work ,these jumped up receptionists in these dealers who think they know it all bug me big time ,anyway their is my opinion for what its worth which is nothing no doubt but i bet it works afterwards and please tell the backstreet garage there is this englishman who bets hes a bigger bodge artist than them and proud of the reputation
